If you're just getting into rum, Zacapa 23 from Guatemala is the canonical entry-level dark rum. But beyond that, it's personal taste. Learn the geographies and you'll figure out what you like best. I prefer agricoles for dark, and central americans for light, with a couple of years of age. Ten Cane is another great light rum but it's in its own weird category, not to mention pretty much unobtainium. I find light rums ultimately more interesting because they are underappreciated and the greats tend to get killed off by the manufacturer after a few beautiful years of love and life, and then spergs squabble over the NOS bottles

Used to be that my worst would be a bottle a night once or twice week. Now it's virtually every night. Physically, I seem fine although I have noticed sore shoulders and the like sticking around much longer than previously although that could just be attributed to regular ageing.

Been drinking since I was 16 but started binge drinking frequently on my own when I was 21-22.
25 now and drink like 2 cases of beer a week. Only reason it's not more is because of my job. Also it's a physical warehouse job so that's why I'm not AS fat as I otherwise would be. Oh boy. I remember when I was going through my blazing alcoholic phase, I had a steady rotation of liquor stores I'd go to because a fifth of cheap vodka a day was my poison. There was one store where an older asian woman worked, and she stopped taking my ID because I was in there every few days. She was there to see it escalate from me buying just a pint every few days to a full fifth.
There was another store next to the campus I work at, run by mostly younger guys. One time, after I had been going there for a while, the guy came up and suggested I get this other brand of vodka because it was a little cheaper, but somehow not as shitty. At my job I was getting treated as a piece of shit by my supervisors because they knew that I had self-esteem low enough that I would feel like I deserved it and wouldn't speak up for my defense, it wasn't until my union rep literally took me to a therapist to help me work through that shit that I realized how deep I was into it.

As someone who works at a convenience store, in teh UK at least it's not illegal. It's /company policy/ not to serve anyone sozzled, but really, it's rude and can cause a lawsuit (yes, really) unless they fucking reek of piss and vodka and can barely stand. There's one guy I serve regularly who I KNOW is drunk but I can't say anything to because it's not like.. instantly provable.
I've even been served when I've outright said "i am fucking sozzled pissed mate" to my coworkers. Everyone where I work gets SHITFACED.
