I am the son of the owners of a pizzeria near Detroit, and I always brushed off the "Detroit-style pizza" thing as a Little Caesar's meme, but do you seriously not have square crusts as an option in other parts of the country?
By far, our rounds sell the best, but I thought a square option was standard in all but the most bozo-ish of chain stores. I moved down to Florida recently, and they don't have squares down here in the place I'm working, but it's a semi-bozo chain store, so I don't know.
Wiki says the squares originated from automotive equipment from the factories or something, which is kinda funny. I never thought a different shaped pan really amounted to an entire "style" though. We don't do that fufu thin ass New York shit, but I don't think most people actually like that anyway.
