So, /ck/, I recently discovered that my local butcher has a passion for bringing in exotic meats to sell, and I'm wondering if any of you have ever eaten any exotic animals that you would recommend?

I've had Ostrich meat from him before, but he seems to get in a hell of a lot of different animals like Crocodile, Water Buffalo, Springbok, Kangaroo, and pic related among other things.

>kangaroo
Is fantastic. Whatever you do, cook it rare though, otherwise it will be tough and dry as shit. Plus, eating it is ethical cause kangaroos are actually at pest proportions in straya.

Dunno about everything else. Heard crocodile is a lot like more beefy chicken, but don't have first hand experience.
>>
I've only really had snake, crocodile, and iguana. Bison, frog, and deer, too, but those are so common that I'm not counting them.
>>
My family loves alligator, I wonder if it tastes the same as crocodile? Seconding kangaroo and the fact it dries out way too easily, be careful cooking.
>>
Frog legs are like lean chicken wings. Never eaten croc, but I've had alligator and its alright, just super chewy.

Agreed. Had a kangaroo burger in Aussieland and it was extremely dry.
>>
I tried some kind of fried insects (crickets maybe) in Thailand and they were actually pretty good, would probably make a good bar snack

>>7651774
yep, rare kangaroo steaks are great. I've tried crocodile sausages too and can confirm they tasted like chicken but with this nice aftertaste that reminded me of beef with lots of seasoning
>>
Exotic foods, mostly fruits/veggies and meats are something I'm weirdly attracted to as a home cook. I wanna see more and hear more stories please!
>>
Rattlesnake and alligator are fantastic. I'd highly recommend.

It was shit, tasted like the blandest fish while having meat that's hard as stake

Why don't you go back to /b/, get a couple of gore pictures from some porn thread and spam that here too?
>>
Kangaroo is like bland venison. Try shark, it's very meaty and doesn't taste like fish at all.
>>
I've had horse, bear, alligator, puffin, kangaroo and whale

Kangaroo meat is also good if you wanna make some sausages. Try a stew from a bear's meat.

This its chewier chicken when they fry it. But i suspect thats because most places have it as a meme item on the menu, like everywhere i went in florida.

My one time in Louisiana, I had alligator tail grilled with blackening spices, it was fucking amazing. Moist, not too chewy, good flavor, slightly different from chicken for sure. But the place has to know what they are doing and specialize in the alligator. My guess is that its actually fairly lean and overcooks easily.

how fucking far are you from the computer screen?
myopia is the inability to see far away. you must be blind as me.
>>
kangaroo, rattlesnake and alligator are all good. I don't know if you consider whale to be exotic, but it's very good if it's cooked with care. Same with horse. I'd guess most reptiles and birds taste pretty similar

don't get camel, it was very fatty (in a bad way) and had a weird stringy consistency when I tried it

you are obviously retarded man
no hard feelings tho
it's not your fault that your were born this way
>>
>>7651774

which was weird, i live in Bulgaria and was really surprised to find it here.Shit's expensive as fuck tho, iirc it was something like ~40 euros for a kilo

>>
