why is 'food critic' even a legitimate profession? such a worthless waste of oxygen. I could do better than these privileged fat fucks

The same reason any other critic exists, people like to hear other peoples opinions on things.

A lot of the threads on here are "hey what do you guys think of x".
>>
>>7626798
Cool. My point is, how can anyone actually make a living out of it? EATING AND CRITIQUING FOOD! meh
>>
>>7626803
People want to read reviews and newspapers/websites are willing to hire people to write reviews.
>>
>>7626804
gluttony is still a sin
>>
>>7626809
What makes you think they eat any more than the average person?
>>
>>7626833
come on. all they do is eat. everywhere matty fatty goes, people kiss up to him to feed their delicacies. and do you see how fat that dude is? fat bulldog.
>>
Because they can express and write very well

He looks pretty average.

In that photo he looks average.. On television and in person he is much larger.
>>
What people don't realise is that the average person should always avoid critics. Whether it's films, TV, food or music, the critic is always looking for different things than the person reading the review would be. The critic is looking for innovation, artistic quality, things like that. The average reader just wants something entertaining/tasty.

Ive seen this matt preston guy around melbourne twice in march. each time he was smoking right before a shoot. I just know that he doesn't have the sense of smell or taste that any non smoker has. AND THEREFORE he is a massive shitter.

the critic talks about the food and if you don't care what he's got to say about creativity, just ignore that part. Meanwhile amateur critics on etsy and similar sites tend to ignore the food and talk about how they disliked the furniture, it was very crowded during lunch time and the toilet smelled bad. also there were burgers.

it's sometimes funny when restaurants get BTFO

>ONE of Australia’s leading food critics has delivered one of the greatest sledges in food review history to Adelaide Oval’s fine dining restaurant Hill of Grace, summarising it as ‘out for a duck.’

>The Weekend Australian’s John Lethlean, whose devastating review of celebrated chef Cheong Liew’s The Grange in 2008 helped trigger its closure, finished a scathing review by stating he simply could not think of anyone he could recommend the Hill of Grace to.

>“Brown, mucoid gloop that passes for a pig liver sauce smothering duck sausage” was the tone of his review of the expensive restaurant overlooking the Oval, where the eight-course degustation menu with matching wine costs $295.

>“Bland, lifeless, beige-on-beige ... it’s like the function room your sister was married in 16 years ago,” is his description of the decor.

>implying anything ever happens in Adelaide. Ever.
>>
>>7627560

you'll have to point out explicitly where that was implied, or you can accept that you're unbelievably new and don't know how memes work.

right? The skewering of per se this year was fucking hilarious.

critics keep the heads of chefs from blowing up and floating away
