How can Americans possibly compete?

Americans really need to step up their paedo game.
>>7620716
Bet he was an animu fan.
We literally can't.
>tfw moved back to the Jewnited States and I can't pop in for a Steak 'n Bake.

It's really the worst
but nothing will ever beat a breakfast roll, not even a steak and pepper pasty
the government can take our NHS, but if they ever take away Greggs there will be an uprising the likes of which has never been seen before.
>>7620685
Their sausage rolls are good to be honest.
>>7620716

>>7620685
Are you fucking kidding? Do you seriously think we don't have sausage rolls over here? Goddamn, you are so misguided on what the US is actually like.
I grew up in a small town in Texas that had a serious German heritage. Pumpernickel sausage rolls were a STAPLE of my childhood. Even during school, whenever we got to leave (like to take the school paper to the printer), my friends and I would stop and get sausage rolls on the way back to school. And that's just my personal story, there's hundreds, if not thousands of other places in the country that do sausage rolls, meat pies, etc.
Don't get me wrong, I'd be more than happy to come and try Greggs, I've heard enough about it. But don't assume that we're "missing out".
>>7621329
you need to chill the fuck out faggot
>>7621336
No, you need to fuck off.
>>7621329
You from the town West?
>>7621329
texas is a shitty state being overrun with mexicans and californians and has shit tier bbq
>>7621351
Nope. Further south west than West.
And when I say small town, it WAS a small town when I was growing up, but auslanders have made it explode.
>>7620685
Like most of the sandwiches, they stopped the mango chicken one though, arguably the best one.
>>7621360
And you're a literal faggot
>>7621360
Ooooo, you really got me there. Fuck off, you don't know anything about Texas.
Sausage rolls are shit
Cheese/onion, steak bakes are really good
Sandwiches are better than Subways
>>7621367
>Sandwiches are better than Subways
Well, that's not fucking hard to do. Subway sucks. Luckily, here in the US, we have a plethora of great sandwich places. I'm sorry you guys have to contend with Subway at all.
>>7620837
This. I'm American, but whenever I visit the UK Gregg's is my first stop. Fucking sausage rolls.
I haven't had a stake bake in a shamefully long time. Probably should sort that out.
Their baguettes are pretty decent as well, cheap as hell.
Sadly Greggs is too 'intimate' for me so I can't go in very often. I like McDonalds, KFC etc due to drive thru and even if I have to walk in their is a big counter seperating me and the staff. In Greggs it is me, then the food then the staff. I have the same problem with Subway but it is even worse in Greggs because the shops tend to be even smaller.
I haven't been to Greggs in 4 years. The last time I asked for a cheese and onion pasty and the assistant asked me to repeat myself. Felt so fucking nervous and tried to pretend I said 'just squeezed my bunion, nasty!'. Bent and grabbed my foot then limped out pretending I wasn't hungry. Fucking can't handle it. Sometimes I have the Iceland Greggs stuff but it isn't the same.
>>7621909

Got called a racist in Greggs today.
>>7620779
>Steak 'n Bake.

>>7621329
>Pumpernickel
But that is a type of bread. Wait, you don't think we are talking about a roll with sausages in it do you?
I'm Canadian and british food doesn't usually do anything for me but sweet fuck I want a Greggs pasty badly. I don't even know why, it's probably not very good but Greggs seems pretty based.
>>7620685
>"""great""" """britain"""
>>7621967
Whats wrong with it?
>>7620685
I can understand the sandwiches and butties but why do people choose to buy pasties at Greggs?
In most places there's a Cornish pasty shop relatively near by.
>>7621949
puff pastry, shortcrust, yeast dough, it's all the same concept. Don't try to pretend it's anything special m8.
>>7622099
It's cheap and not bad for the price. Iirc that pasty chain starts at like £3
>>7622099
To some extent, you are right, a lot of bakeries do Pasties far better than Greggs but for some reason, the smell drags you in and you impulse buy.
>>7620685
>tfw they recently opened a fucking cooplands in my town
>greggs is in the next town that's a 20 minute drive so fuck that
>cooplands shitty cold pastry
I want warm delicious greggs ffs why the fuck do greggs not have warm cabinets, instead they let it just go stone fucking cold piss offff!!!!
>>7621361
holy shit mango chicken was the shit
luckily a sandwich shop I live near does even better ones. pure bliss.
>>7624016
meant cooplands not having warm cabinets*
I don't understand how they don't.
>>7624016
just do what I do desu, give them your phone number and ask for text alerts when the pasties are just coming out of the oven
Greggs is good but a Greggs in the Gateshead Metrocentre was where I saw the fattest people I've seen in all of the UK and frankly some of the fattest people I've ever seen anywhere.
>>7621939
I'm a musician. Many of the best crew and tour managers are Brits and Scots. When touring the US they'll suffer through everyone on the bus talking about BBQ and burritos. When you get on their home turf they hip you to things like sausage rolls, meat pies. pasties, baltis, munchy boxes and the sweet baked treats they bring on the bus around holidays. By the time you make it to Australia the pie shop hardly seems like a foreign thing. (But the anchor gigs in Japan to cover that trip provide plenty of legit "foreign" experiences).
Only been on a few tours like that, and those days may be behind me now. But what a fucking experience.
>Live in Newcastle
>Home of Greggs
>Greggs on every street like you'd imagine a Starbucks
>Somehow never go in despite the strong smell of temptation
I do love their steak bakes though.
Do Americans have an equivalent to Sausage Rolls or not? I'm pretty sure there's some European knockoffs.
>bong pizza
>>7624069
We have that kind of sausage, but it's usually served alongside eggs on a plate or in a sandwich made with a roll (or biscuit in the South). In the South it's often made into sausage gravy, then poured over a biscuit, which is a totally delicious abomination. In major cities you'll sometimes find a place that specializes in English or Australian baked goods like meat pies, and they usually have sausage rolls. They'll be a lot more than a quid though, because such places tend to be pretty hipster.
Usually when you find a sausage baked into a roll of some sort it's made from a hot dog, or pepperoni in the case of a calzone (or pepperoni roll in West Virginia, which is godawful).
In Northern Michigan we have Cornish pasties, because of immigrant miners. Of course the American version is twice the size of the UK example. It's also hyper-regional. The further you get from the Upper Peninsula the more rare they become.
>>7624074
I've never tried greggs pizza. Didn't even know they made it. Any here tried it?
>>7621329
english guy here. greggs is shit.
>>7624128

>>7624128
Glaswegian here, I love getting a greggs after signing on. They give away free heroin at my local one
>tfw the one round the corner from me is either closed or getting a refurb atm
I rarely go in there but I'm still slightly sad about it. That said, their sausage rolls are grim and I will never forgive myself for being memed into buying one.
>>7620713
That looks awesome. Hope it crosses the pond

>british journalism
Why go to greggs. Maybe because im not a poorthener i dont see the appeal. Have all of your towns been so commercialised that all local bakeries have gone. I have two and a pasty shop and id go to all before greggs. Better price and better food. Greggs is just a ploy to give the working class heart disease anyway

Is anyone else surprised that Greggs never sold scotch eggs? They have every other one of the convenience snack foods, sandwiches, pies, pasties and sausage rolls but not scotch eggs.
>>7620685
fucking Greggs
they took over my local bakery which was incredible, and I haven't been back since I tried the Greggs version of the curry slice and it was utter shit
>>7624131
The Dorchester.
>>7621371
Subway is shit tier. They rode to the top with the early fast casual healthy dining places and exoended so fast that theres 4 or 5 in every small to medium sized town
Its the epitome of corporate strategy fucking a place up. Penny pinching and small but frequent price increases have created a low value propesition. 7.50 for a foot long sweet onion teriyaki with barely any meat and super skimped veggies? Fuck the fuck off
Thankfully theres like 100 awesome places like Firehouse, Jersey Mike, etc to replace it.
Longshot but has anyone tried Cousins? Only in a few midwestern states and Arizona but its fuckin god tier.
