Is instant ramen healthy? I went biking a whole lot today and when I went back home there was nothing to eat but this. Did I just nullify the effects of the entire workout during the day?
>>
It's a sodium bomb but it's not like it'll kill you.

> Is instant ramen healthy?

no

> Did I just nullify the effects of the entire workout during the day?

no
>>
>biking to lose weight
That's not how to do it

Yes, you probably offset most if not all of your caloric expenditure by eating a massive bowl of carbs, but cycling has many other health benefits unrelated to weight loss

No, it is not healthy and you will get sick of eating it everyday eventually.

I just eat it once a month. I can't even stand it, there is only Nissin in the country where I live and the other brand are sold as a luxury and far too expensive for a mere pack of ramen.

>implications
I'm a lean dude I don't go cycling to lose weight. It's just a fun exercise that I enjoy doing.

>>7597631
Yeah I figured. I can't even stand instant noodles most of the time but today was an exception, I was just really hungry and there was literally nothing else to eat. I know it's bad but I wonder what the actual effects of eating it are. Shit was delicious though, but maybe that was because of the hunger after exercising.
>pic related it's my bowl. Sorry for the disgusting bowl I was too hungry to care
>>
>>7597625
What does sodium do to my body? Does it explode if I eat enough of it?
>>
>>7597642

I just don't know. When I cook 'em, I add things to the point that it is not even a ramen anymore.

But I can't shake up the thought that, for me, it is one kind of food that looks better than it actually tastes.

What I do like alot is soba. My personal favorite is yakisoba. Much better than ramen, and it is actually healthy. Pretty easy to cook yourself on your house too.
Aside from the soba itself, don't buy any instant yakisoba they sell.
>>
>>7597649
My nigger. I love soba too but it's so hard to find. Actually, any kind of noodles that's actually Japanese authentic is godly to my tongue, I just don't come across them very often. I guess I'll try cooking it myself, do you have any suggestions? Where to buy ingredients and stuff. Can they be found in the average supermarket?
>>
>>7597649
Yakisoba is as much soba as ramen is soba dude. Soba in its broadest meaning is just "noodle" in japanese, yakisoba is a form of noodles, as is ramen (or shinasoba, or chuukasoba). But when people just say soba you usually mean nihon-soba, made out of buckwheat, which is a pretty different thing from yakisoba.
>>
>>7597649
What do you add to yours?
>>
>>7597659
Interesting. Do you ever cook those? Tips?
>>
>nullify the effects
are you implying that eating ramen will make you worse at riding a bike?
>>
>>7597659

Welp... Sorry them? It just don't feel like ramen noodles, since the noodle itself is different from what they usually use for ramen. I do know that yakisoba literally means fried noodle in japanese. Not exactly a specialist in japanese cuisine.

>>7597658

Yes, you can. At least here in Brazil, they sell all the ingredients in the supermarket. I use cow beef instead of chicken or pork. I can't eat pork for reasons.

Broccolis, chard, tonkatsu. The usual stuff. But what my mother taught me to put, and it makes a huge difference is ginger. It gives a great twist on the taste. I really recommend put ginger on it.
>>
>>7597663

Tough question.
I put whatever I have on my fridge that looks like it could do well on my instant ramen, dude. Vegetables, different seasonings, meat leftovers.

Everything that is not a pizza is fair game, I guess. Just use your common sense.

What a dumb question. Why don't you look at the nutritional info on the packet?

>but the sodium!
Amount you need is dependent on the individual. If you are aiming for low-sodium, and you still want your instant ramen, just make sure that all of your other meals of the day are extremely low in sodium. It's not that hard.
>>
>>7597745

Not him but I think he might feel like me where I've seen and heard so much talk about Ramen noodles being called "poison" or like "it kills you" type shit that there is something about it apart from the nutrition information that is just detrimental to a person's health. I mean when you go to /fit/ they talk about a candybar being the end of the world for a bodybuilder and /ck/ as far as I know treats ramen noodles the same. Ramen noodle's gets no rezpect around here. You might be the first to actually not treat it like sulfuric acid.

I'm sorry, English is not my native language. What should I have said instead?
>>
>>7597934
Did eating ramen cuck my gains?
>>
>>7597676
Thank you, I will.
>>
You're not nullifying your workout. It's better to be fat and healthy than fat and unhealthy.
>>
>>7597934
Ignore him, you made perfect sense.
>>
>>7597937
Too much chanspeak. I prefer a more natural way of saying it. Care to give me another example?
>>
>>7597943

Being fat is by definition unhealthy.

But yeah of fucking course eating a single packet of instant ramen isn't going to "nullify a workout".
>>
>>7597946
Ah, I see, thanks.
>>
noodles are fine. its the broth you need to watch out for. sometimes ill just boil the noodles plain and put stir fry on them.

He might have nullified his diet. Supposedly Ramen noodles DO have some shit that is bad for you, so even if he got a bit of cardio activity and burned a few calories he still introduced whatever-the-fuck the shit is inside it that kills you slowly, so whatever length of time he expected to extend to his life by working out he just took away by eating the crap inside Ramen Noodles.
>>
>>7597952
It is, but you can still be fat and have good cardiovascular health and stamina. Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good.

I lost 50 lbs just by picking up cycling. I actually eat well over 3000 calories during the warmer months and still lost the fat. About 20 hours a week, not a whole lot if you factor in the commute time by bike.
>>
>>7597646
it's bad for you?

you won't explode if you eat 3 snickers bars either but I don't recommend it.

Whats the GOAT way to cook some instant noodles?
>>
I stopped eating ramen in January. I used to get horribly bloated after eating it. So no I don't think it's very healthy for you.
>>
>>7597620
>>7597745
Why the fuck does it contains so much sodium???
>>
>>7598719
Sodium is easily discarded by the body if not used.

These packet noodles are actually a good source of carbohydrates, essential for everyday energy.

They are also tasty and nutritious too .. . . even more so if you add vegetables to them.
