Why do Americans like wings so much? I've never had them, but they don't seem too fun to eat, with all that awkwardly shaped bone. on the other hand the breast is generally too dry. The thigh is easily the best combination of convenience, texture and flavour.

They're cheap, filling, and go well with beer. The popularity probably started when restaurants would serve them at like 30 cents a wing for specials. People make a variety of sauces to put on them as well (parmesan garlic, buffalo sauce, salt and vinegar, BBQ, etc).
