how can people say cooking is hard again? its not hard its just time consuming
>>

I think it's pretty sad you needed a recipe to cook eggs over easy

try something a bit more complicated next time
>>
>follow recipe
>reach instruction to do something "until brown", "until firm", "until fluffy", etc.

How the hell am I supposed to know what the person writing the recipe thinks is "firm"?
>>
>>7551034
never underestimate the power of stupid people.

Where the fuck did OP mention eggs? Are the voices in your head telling you things again?
>>
>>7551034

To cook meals you need a large stack space to remember all the different shit you've got going, especially without prep. I for one have have a small stack space (sign of low intelligence) .

Add "refusal to actually follow the recipe" to misunderstanding terminology and weak medium term memory and I think you've pretty much explained it.

You're not. You are the one cooking so you cook it to the consistency that you want.

Also, practice and experience. I know that beginners want exact recipes (I was in that situation too!) but the sad fact is that there are so many variables in cooking that it's impossible to create truly exact recipes. Ingredients vary in freshness and thickness. Different stoves and different pans heat in differing ways. Elevation and humidity affect cooking time. It's simply impossible to create pre-calcuated exacting recipes. Instead you have to use your senses to observe what is happening with the food and adjust cooking times and seasoning accordingly.

I've seen very intelligent people turn into complete idiots in the kitchen.

I think it's a combination of overthinking it, and also thinking it's much simpler than it is without having the experience in basic techniques that makes those techniques simple.

It's practical chemistry.
Some people are bad at that

The inability to understand these kinds of instructions is the quickest way to figure out if someone is an autist.

Because a cup is like 236ml or 240ml or 284ml or 227ml or 200ml or 250ml.

Then a pint is like 586ml or 473ml or 550ml.

Then teaspoons and tablespoons and sometimes a book originally published in one place is converted to different standards when released somewhere else and sometimes it's not and oh god I just can't take it anymore I'll just eat rice and beans forever.
>>
>>7555094

A cup is 8 ounces, and pint is 16 ounces, a tablespoon is .5 ounces, a teaspoon is a third of a tablespoon.

They're all standardized measurements, and if you can't do basic math (or, you know, taste your food as you season it) then you should probably stick to recipes in the metric system.
>>
>>7555105
The standards are regional. You honestly didn't know that?
>>
>>7555111

>you honestly didn't know that

No. I've never used any recipes written in Liberia or Myanmar.
