When I heard the words "comfort food" I immediately picture a very obese women crying into a bucket of Ben & Jerry's or stuffing her face with brownies.

You know, she's "comforting" herself with food.

But according to /ck/ it's more complicated:

>your mom made it during your childhood
>has to be simple boring shit like macaroni or mashed potatoes
>usually a setting involved "whenever it's raining and you're cozy inside"

If I'm stressed/sad/mad I lose my appetite, so I've never really experienced being comforted by food.
