Eat cuban food in Hialeah or Little Havana. The rest of the city is standard fusion fare that you would find in California or New York
Some tips on Cuban food:
Excellent Fruits, Milkshakes, Ice Cream and Juices
Excellent Roasted pork (lechon)
Excellent pastries and snacks
Excellent coffee
Typical food is very decent, not amazing like French food
Visit Palacio de los Jugos (Try all the fruits and shakes)
Visit Azucar Ice cream company and have their Abuela Maria Ice cream
Visit El Floridita and eat their fish croquetas and fruitiras de bacalao
Go to the Little Havana Cigar Factory, try out a few smokes
Try some Argentinian Barbecue at Graziano's
All the Cuban Areas are safe. Black and Hatian areas are far away in the ghetto. Mexicans are down in homestead - don't bother.

I lived in Wellington.
About 1 hour north of Miami. Local white folks said to stay away from Miami.
But as others have said there's a difference between neighborhoods.
Also I think Cuban food sucks. They are shittier, poorer, and more boring than Mexican cuisine.
But Native Floridans, and the Jewish New York trash that retires there seems to love it.
Honestly, go get on help. This place is retarded. But I'd rather eat a homemade hotdog than "Cuban" food. They are lousy Hispanics. Rather eat Mexican.
