How often do you get carded when buying alcohol? Age?
>>
Never.
25.
I haven't gotten carded since I was underage
>>
>>7494678
24.
Never.

I stopped getting carded after I turned 22.
>>
32.

Roughly 50% of the time, or whenever I have recently shaved.
>>
Every time except at festivals

21
>>
29
Never get carded when I buy from a convenience store, always get carded at a liquor store or grocery.
>>
>>7494678
>Age

>How often do you get carded when buying alcohol
Every time I go to a new store. I don't even look young I think they do it out of spite because i'm a drunk.
>>
>>7494678
30, pretty much every time because my state has a law requiring stores to ID regardless of appearance. Except for one store run by Indians who don't give a fuck as long as they recognize you as a regular.
>>
Only place I get carded is at the Target down the street from me.

I have a pretty distinct beard, and buy liquor there twice a week, so all the cashiers recognize me, but they still have to scan my ID in order to ring up my booze.

At normal liquor stores and bars, where they don't know me, I haven't been carded in years.

I'm 30, and not sure if it's sadder that I'm almost wishing I got carded more at this point, or the fact that I'm occasionally with a girl who is young enough looking to get carded, but who is just a friend.
>>
Never. 20
>>
Every time, 28. Guess I just look young.
>>
>>7494684
Holy fuck this.

I had a rewards card for the local chain of liquor stores since I was 19, which kind of fucked me because I gave them a fake number and can never remember it and they don't want to give me a new one.

I'm even 25.

I get carded for cigrits at Walgreens basically every time, even though I look like I'm Bluto from Popeye.
>>
i had a fairly large beard until about a week ago

i almost never got carded and now i do every time

i am almost 24

also does /ck/ have the highest average poster age?

Here it doesn't matter if you're in your 40s or if you're in your 20s. Grocery stores, convenience stores, bars, anywhere. Most places have to scan your ID anyway.
>>
I always get carded at this one6 pack place cause the douchebag there doesn't like me having long hair and casual demeanor and for some reason he thinks he runs some kind of upper class beer wares. If I go to a real beer place they don't look twice.
>>
I never get carded in my country but every place I go to in America asks me for ID. Some granny was giving out hard cider samples in the fucking grocery and asked me if I wanted one, when I said sure she asks for my ID. I went to some sports bar and showed my ID to the waitress and she said they don't take foreign IDs. The slut actually expects me to carry my passport around and risk losing it? Yeah right. I talked to the manager and she gave the waitress the green light to serve us.
>>
>>7494793
i'm sure this is going into some tracking database they sell to health insurers.
>>
28. If it's a new employee usually they card me but most cashiers at those places I go know me by now.
>>
22, nearly every time at stores, about half the time in restaurants/bars. I have babyface
>>
Work at a gas station that sells liqour, AMA?
>>
>>7494864
how often are you robbed
>>
23. Most of the the time. Never at my local places because they know me. Didn't get carded at a sushi place getting wine recently. But most women like getting carded as it makes them feel young so I'll take it.
>>
>>7494891
Also my husband is 35 and he gets carded everywhere. I think having a full head of hair and a baby face does that.
>>
>>7494864

is it true that the darker the sky the darker the clientele?
>>
I'm a white skinned blue eyed blonde haired auscuck and went to the UK when I was 16 with my parents. The fact I was underage didn't seem to bother them as they were too busy listening to my accent to bother checking me for ID

It was great
>>
I'm 26 and I still get carded every single time because I live in Indiana and we have backwards ass laws when it comes to alcohol.
>>
>>7494778
>looks like bluto
Pics. Now.
>>>/soc/
>>
27
I usually just get it out when I get my credit card out if they ask for it or not.
>>
32.
I don't drink too much anymore, but the first time I was ever carded ever was over the summer at the grocery store buying a case of beer. I think they passed some law where they have slide your ID through the machine to allow the till to sell alcohol to you now. Not sure.
I've been buying alc since I was like 15. Helps when you've had a full beard and stand at least 6ft/183cm since you were 13/14 or so.
>>
>>7494678
Once in an absolute blue moon, usually if it's a manager somewhere, otherwise never. People think I'm in my late 30's.

I'm 24.
>>
25
I know most of the guys so rarely get carded but I got carded by literally everyone at a Woolworths place until they all remembered me.
On the other hand some drive-thru place has never carded me once I don't think.
The law in Australia is to card someone if they look under 25 to account for old-looking cunts but most people don't know that.
>>
>>7494678
never have so far and I'm 18 which... I don't know how to feel about. do i look really old??

i live in aus btw so 18 is the legal drinking age
>>
24
Only at Walmart
>>
I live in a college town, so always
>>
>>7494884
Never have been.
>>7494915
Maybe a little bit? But I only work nights in a mainly white area.
>>
>>7494951
It's not the law, it's just a practice adopted by some companies to cover their own asses.
>>
>29
>Every time

It's a curse. It's sort of flattering though. It is weird at bars when girls are hitting on me and then ask my age and get sort of standoffish that I'm in some cases 11 years older than them.
>>
25
if the cashier is young, like under 30 i dont get carded, anyone older and i do.
although, where i live the cashier is supposed to check everyone even if they look 70
>>
>>7494993
Ah yeah. Seemed like it was the widespread policy when I did security though. I think it makes sense.
>>
I'm 27 and I live in Canada, I've only been carded maybe 3 times since I turned 19. I do however get carded every single time I buy beer in the US.
>>
19. Never.
>>
>>7494994
you still fuck them though, right?
>>
>>7494778
What liquor store is able to give rewards cards? I thought that was illegal
>>
Maybe half the time. I'm 23.
>>
30
1 time in 10
>>
24 and never have, even though I look 16.
>>
Never. Every liquor store in my area knows me by name. I rotate regularly to hide how serious my drinking problem is, but they all know. If I'm not in at least once a week, they tell me they were worried about me.

I'm 33. Will be a miracle if I reach 40. Hell, 35 seems unrealistic.
>>
24. Haven't been carded since my beard passed the one-inch mark when I was 22.
>>
>>7494678
I got carded once when I was trying to buy a bottle of vodka at 13, and once when I was buying a case of beer at 15.
The legal age here is 16 for beer, wine and other low % drinks, and 18 for liquor.

Otherwise I haven't been checked or questioned in any way while frequently buying alcohol from the age of 14 to 25.
>>
I'm 23 and it depends on where I'm at.

Currently in Kansas and haven't been carded yet.
I feel like the south and in the hood I never get carded, but northern states and New England it's almost every time I go in.
>>
23, and I get carded literally every time unless its a place in a regular at where they know me. They usually don't believe it's my ID either and I always make everyone else in the group get carded as well. I guess it's the female hormones I take making me look younger.
>>
I haven't been "asked" for ID in about 2 months. I buy alcohol maybe 2-3 times a week. I usually go to the same liquor stores. I'm 23. Also I have my ID next to my cash and credit card, so it's not hard to just show them.
>>
Carded only once in my life, and I was 24 at the time. Going on a holiday up the coast with 4 girls, all 19yo (my GF at the time and her friends).

None of them got carded. The funny thing was, I actually didn't have any ID on me because I left my car at home (no need for drivers license, or so I thought).

I actually told the bloke this and we all cracked up laughing at how ironic the situation was. The guy ended up feeling like an idiot and let me have my 4 bottles of Jack D.
>>
21
If I shave that day I get asked to show ID almost everywhere.

However that is only because of a new retarded rule in my country that people under 25 always have to show their ID which makes zero fucking sense because nobody walks around with their age on their forehead, before this I would buy anything anywhere since I was 14
>>
They ask my birthday but rarely to actually see my card.
21
>>
26 m and still get carded 80% of the time.
>>
>>7494678
50/50 it's pretty much standard here unless you look like your 40 or some shit.

36
I just always have my wallet out when paying anyway. I don't mind.
>>
I've never gotten carded because I'm not a piece of shit asshole who likes to take up everyone's fucking time digging in what ever stupid fucking place I keep my cards. I have it out and ready, hand it to the cashier.

I bet all you fucks are the kind of idiots who sit in line at a drive-thru only to take up 3 more minutes digging in your purse/wallet to get the cash/card once you're asked for payment.

Fuck you all.
>>
>>7495336
what are you, some sort of normie scum? get lost creep
>>
I'm in Australia and our legal drinking age is 18, I'm 33 now and don't get carded anymore but I have a bit of a baby face and I was getting carded up until I was about 28. Sometimes the shop keeper couldn't believe how old I was.
>>
21
Probably about half the time maybe more, Canadafag so you have to be 19.
I think i look about 19
>>
26
It depends if I shave.

If I shave, 100%. I look 16 (Or so I hear)
If I don't shave, 50/50
>>
>>7495336
What, you think you're special?

It doesn't make you a better customer, you just save us cashiers the breath of asking you.

Like we give a shit, fuck you.
>>
I buy alcohol every single day for years now. Maybe 2-3 times a year I get carded. I actually wish they would card me more often to make me feel younger. I'm 35.
>>
>>7494678
26, stopped getting carded at 14.

However, I'm noticing that since more men are growing beards, I get carded more often.
>>
>>7495392
When your line of customers is as far as the eye can see and you need to get several things done, those minutes count, you fucking tool. I couldn't care less about your stank ass breath.
>>
>>7495336
What sort of retard are you that you are incapable of quickly pulling out your wallet and removing your ID? I'm out of the the store by the time your dumb ass has picked up all the sweaty, balled-up cash you've been double-fisting because somehow you're too stupid to figure out how to use pockets.
>>
>>7495340
>implying someone is normal for using one brain cell to know they're going to get carded/have to pay for smething, so they lessen the time by being fucking prepared

And yu have it backwards, idiot, it's 'normal' to not have payment or card ready, butthole.
>>
>>7495413
I've yet to encounter someone who pulls out their card quickly. And I grab what I need before exiting my car; no wallet, no purse and mainly just a neat and tidy card, you imbecile.

>>7494678
23.

You are worse than I thought. Minutes add up; customers steal time that can be used for doing important managerial shit, or even just regular employee shit, when they feel so self important that they can't have items ready they know are needed for a transaction, whether that be payment or an ID along with payment.
>>
31, every fucking time unless the person recognizes me.
>>
26

i would say every third time i try to buy alcohol. depends what i'm wearing though. i got carded for a fucking lighter the other day

Liquor store is 50/50, I'm in there a lot so the employees remember me fairly well. Gas station where I buy beer doesn't ID me because they know me.
>>
>>7494678
I'm 34 and get carded for alcohol maybe once out of every four or five times I buy it.

For some reason, I get carded way more often for cigarettes than for alcohol.
>>
27. All the time.

I'm extremely babyfaced. I could pass for 15 if I shave my beard off.
>>
>>7494678
28. Rarely, usually only by women.
>>
25, rarely ever do. It helps I don't buy super cheap shitty alcohol or beer. I think the last time I got carded was by a new girl at the local bar. The older lady just told her to serve me but she didn't listen.

Whenever I shave my babbyface I always get carded.
>>
19, never.
when I am with other people tho they usually ask them their cards

I remember buying some €40 worth of cheap alcohol when I was 15 or 16, together with a friend who was a bit older then me.
cashier asked him for a card, he provided, cashier called someone, don't have a clue how we got out with the booze
first time I bought alcohol I was 15 I think and I've never had any problem
in europe they care a lot less tho
>>
>tfw live in NY
>restaurants have been serving me since I was 16
even liquor stores don't really card here unless you look like a baby, and convenience stores sure as shit don't give a fuck. There was this one this old german guy otto used to run, I had been buying cigarettes and porn mags there since I was 11.

it's good to live in a place where actual crimes get committed, because then the cops have more important shit to do than hassle teenagers over drinking beer on the weekend
>>
29 and I always get carded - but I'm not sure whether that's because of how young I look (could pass for 17 if I shaved), or just because it makes sense for businesses to card everyone to avoid the huge fines if they're caught not checking ID's.
>>
Aldi doesn't card me most of the time. I go frequently, but I've had multiple new cashiers just let me on through without asking. I think it's because I buy a family's worth of food and it's not worth holding up the line any longer.

I'm 23 and I wish I tried to sneak alcohol as a teen for how little I get carded.
>>
>>7494678
19 get carded like 50% of the time. Kinda depends on the place.

every time. I'm almost 25 and I can't grow any noticeable facial hair unless I don't shave for at least two weeks and then it simply looks greasy, not like a beard someone would actually grow, so I have to shave weekly before it starts to show too bad.

a week of not shaving for me looks like a day of not shaving for everyone else. Realistically I could shave every 3 or 4 days and I'd look cleanshaven unless you were really looking
>>
20, usually once per few months, and usually I proceed anyway despite not carrying my ID.
I buy alko 2-3 times a week, at least 1 time is vodka, usually beer.

Not really a rewards card, couldn't think of what else to call if and was drunk at the time.

Just a card that basically allows you to get the sale price if there is one, which more often than not is just the case price for the brand.

You are correct, though, it's illegal, at least here in Texas, to give discounts beyond case price on liquor (at least liquor, don't know about other alcohol).

don't look young, but they're pretty strict in general around here about carding. I've noticed the more upscale (read:expensive) a place is, the less likely they are to card you. Underage kids aren't going to go into craft cocktail bars where the drinks are $11 each

Even if they are, the median age would still be 20ish. Generally, the longer you stay the more the average age pushes up.

>tfw you admit that 4chan is a part of your life.
>>
>>7496333
Doubtful. Chances are it's that 26 year olds just act like "kiddies". See the thing about growing up is you learn that you never really feel any older, nor do you ever just wake up and say

"Guess I should start wearing a tie and love doing my taxes now."
>>
>>7496351
I don't know about you but now that I'm nearing my thirties I'm becoming more formal and serious about my appearance and acting a little more reserved. Older people aren't going to take you seriously if you act like you're trying to perpetually live out your twenties. There's plenty of people who do that these days and they're generally considered losers by their peers.
>>
>>7496369
Oh, don't get me wrong, maturing and understanding what is expected of you and acting in accordance with that expectation comes with age. I am finishing a late started engineering degree now and just getting into the professional world, even in casual work environments I still prefer to be more formally dressed.

But I never woke up an adult. When I am around my buddies, we still fuck around and joke around, now as I am old enough to be more a part of my parents (and other "adults" in my life) social circles, I can see that it never really changes.

I think 4chan just allows that inner kiddie to come out, it allows you to call things "fucking retarded you cunt" when you think they are stupid or silly, and really, how often can you call strangers "faggot" in your day to day?
>>
>>7496398

I've moved to a new city 3 times since I've been legal and in each I've had a different experience.

City one - beer store (carded every time) liquor store (carded until they knew me) < I was 19-20 >
City two - beer store (never carded) liquor store (carded every time) < I was 20-22 >

City three - beer store (50/50 on getting carded) liquor store (depends on who's working, if I've shaved, how frequently I go in) < I was/am 23-24-present >

22 and every time unless I'm at he bar where I'm a regular at

You didn't wake up an adult? Shit, I did. One day when I was twenty-four I just sort of put down the skateboard and weed and started getting more serious about life.

And I feel what you said about 4chan. After being a responsible adult all day I come on here to funpost and act like a tard for an hour or two a day.
>>
>>7494678
About half the time, 22 but I've got a beard. When I do get carded they always spend a long time inspecting it and ask me questions and stuff, my ID is from out of state (which they're not supposed to accept), vertical and says under 21 (you get a new one without that where I live when you turn 21 but since mine is from another state it hasn't expired yet), and I don't really look like the picture any more. Live around a bunch of college students too, and always get nervous buying booze even though it's legal.
>>
Not often enough. I'm 28 but I look like I'm about 12. People always ask me what grade I'm in. There are still cashiers who won't card me when I buy beer.

Pretty sure it's the revenuers' doing.

The level to which liquor is regulated is intense, almost to the point of absurdity.

I don't know if it's the same for every state, but I know in Texas it's illegal to sell hard liquor below case price (which is at most a 10% discount).

Several people I know have worked at the largest chain liquor store in the state (Spec's). The employee discount is just case price. Stores can get shut down for doing less, apparently.

Also, apart from the major chain, most stores have alternate pricing for credit or debit/cash sales. If you pay cash/debit you get a 5% discount, but that's likely a markup that's also common with small time gun shops both online and in gun shows that advertise a cash price and then list a 5% credit charge to cover their fees.

That being said, I get case price at my local store because I'm a frequent regular and I wear a Cowboy's hat and the management is fond of them.

Americans have to be 21 to post here.
>>
>>7494678
Almost never unless it's a new employee. Go to two different stores depending where I am at the time. Both know I only ever get a Mickey of sailor jerries. Last week one of the clerk pointed out it was strange I got captain Morgans this time; just wanted something lighter that night. I go in maybe twice a week cause I like to pour myself a drink after work. It's kinda nice they know me but I wonder if that's a good or bad sign? I don't think I have a problem because I normally only have one or two drinks at a time and go to bed but I think on it lots.

>>

I work at a liquor store, we're told to ID anyone who looks to be 35 or younger.

Since I really only buy from that store, I never get carded. And I never buy drinks out because I always know just how badly I'm getting ripped off.

>>
About half the time, depending on where I go. I'm 21.
>>
22, about half the time ever since I was 18. Women cashiers will more likely ID me than men, I've noticed. In an actual liquor store (state monopoly tehehe) they will always ask though.

too often. No fucking 17 year old has a full beard
>>
24. Didn't get carded the first time I bought liquor at 21 and it pissed me off. Besides that get carded about anywhere I went about 3/4 of the time. Unless it's a store where I'm a regular. Hell get carded to buy cigs sometimes.

Weird because I remember as a teen I looked older. I mean at 16 I often got mistaken for a uni student. I started waiting at 18 and during long breaks at work I'd walk to the bar next door and get a beer and smoke outside. That or after I'd be out drinking. Owner knew I was 18 so would never let me drink there but didn't give a shit if I could drink elsewhere. I think the waiting uniform and tired dead look made other waiters too sympathetic to ask for ID.
>>
Never if you look older then 16 they don't bother
>>
About half the time but it can sort of depend on what my facial hair situation is like and how shitty/tired I'm looking that day.

What's really annoying is getting carded by somebody who's clearly younger than you but eh whatever.

barfags give underage drinker stories

>cleaning up during a dead day hour, like 2pm
>in come 2 dudes and some chick
>"HEY uh we see those bud light specials, yeah we'll have two and for you babe? And a martini"
>ok. Let me see some ID
>"Oh damn"
>fake pocket checking wallets
>"We lost them"
>just 3 people happened to lose their ids
>Nah no beer
>girl just loudly sighs and bitches at them "That didn't work dumbass"
>they go across the street to another bar

>go for a quick liquor case pick up
>cop at the door as normal about this hour
>kid in front of me takes out his fake ID and gives it to the cop like you would a bouncer at a club
>cop just laughs, tells him he's gonna keep that ID to laugh at later, tells him to get lost
>kid was pale as a ghost and ran away

Might seem patronizing but their boss threatens them with loss of job and possible fines if they fuck up so they basically ID everyone who doesn't look old

Summer out of high school at 18 I worked at a lakeside restaurant that sold alcohol and technically I was a bartender. I had to card anyone who didn't look over 30.
Your frustration is understandable, as I pissed a lot of people off doing this. But I didn't have a choice.

Once or twice a year now

>>
>>7499124
Pretty much this. I'm in my mid-thirties and I get carded almost every time I buy beer or cigarettes at the corner store near my house because one of the clerks was lazy and didn't bother checking IDs and they got caught selling to underage kids.

That clerk got fined and fired and the store got a huge fine and now they have these big signs up behind the counter saying they card anyone who looks under 50 and they actually do.

The only time I don't get carded there is when the manager is working the register since she recognizes me from buying shit there for the past 8 years.
>>

hard to say, since i automatically whip out my i.d. whenever i buy alcohol. but about 75% of the time, whoever i'm showing it to sort of gives it a cursory glance indicating that they wouldn't have asked anyway.
>>
23

>cashier looks at id
>swipes it
>calls manager over
>manager looks at it

I've also had my passport rejected as an "invalid form of identification"
>>
I actually got carded for alcohol well into my thirties. It's only now that I'm starting to show some grey hair around my temples and some slight crow's feet that I don't get carded anymore.
>>
>>7494678
Pretty much every time unless it's somewhere I frequent.
29
Funny thing is I bought beer all the time from 18-20. The grocery store employees seemed to just assume no one who is underage would be buying expensive dark beers. That was my guess anyway.
>>
Outside of the military I've only worked retail.

Grocery and drugstore.

And I can tell you it depends on the individual behind the register.

Gocery store had a policy
>Look under 40, check ID
i only checked people who looked too young to drink.

Drug store policy is
>look under 27
Same thing

I only card people when i think they are legitimately under 21. Usually they are over by a few years.

One time I carded a girl who I thought was going to flatter her way to get booze sold to her, she looked wwaayy to young, and she was over 30.

Im not good at placing people in young age ranges, but I havent ever placed someone being older and gotten it wrong, yet.

Cigarettes though, I've had a TON of kids try to get those, same excuses
>my IDs in the car
>i lost my license in a DUI (not knowing your required to carry a state ID)
>i left it at home
>look at this beard bro, come on

Kids seems to think that clerks are loose with smokes i guess
>>
>>7495662

same in California as well.

I had to card 40-50 year old women buying wine when I worked at Target. This was back when they only sold wine. It's stupid that I did it, but it was the policy and I didn't want to get fired.

24. It only worked at the local convenient stores and local HEB where everyone knew my dad and mom as those parents that'd send there kids to the store for bread and cigarettes. I remember picking up cigs for them as young as 8.

I know it sounds like they were shitty parents but it was actually a lot of fun for me to walk to the store by myself with my dog. Felt like a little badass. I'd keep the change and buy junkfood.

I get carded sometimes when I've been a regular at a store for 3 years.

I was carded with a full grown beard because they must take me as an FBI agent or something. I'm a 30 year old man and I get carded off and on all the time depending on the mood of the clerk.
>>
>>7498385
Get an in-state ID. I think it's because people are only trained to recognize fakes for the state they're in, and some of the other ones don't have as many security features. It's not really enforced, but there are at least a few places I've heard about that won't take them if you're under 30 or something.
>>
>>7494678

Sometimes. The answer is not how old you look, but your familiarity with the shopkeep, as well as how much they want to follow the rules. It's a legal pain in the ass if they sell to underagers, so who cares? Just take out the driver's license and credit card, show, pay, and be on your way.
>>
Never once in my life have I been carded, When I was 16 I just went to the gas station to buy smokes all the time, never once did they ask for ID. When I was 18-19 I tried buying alcohol and the cashier just asked me if I was 21 and I said "hell yeah im 21" and that was it.
But I lived in a small town in Idaho at the time, they just didn't give a fuck over there.

27, M, US.

I would say maybe 10% of the time, but it's becoming more and more rare. Doesn't help that I've always looked older than I am though. Even in my early to mid 20s, people routinely mistook me for being over 30.

When first came of legal drinking age, It actually used to irritate me how often I wasn't carded. The very first time I purchased alcohol was like a day after my 21 first birthday. I went to a local grocery store, picked out some beer and brought it to the cashier and plopped it on the conveyor with full confidence. I eagerly anticipated the question that had plagued me with fear in all my underage drinking. I had my wallet out, Id at the ready, only to hear the cashier say: That'll be 11.34.

I was pissed. She didn't even card me. I was like are you fucking serious? I could have been doing this the whole time?
