How many calories a person who stays in bed all day long (only going out every few days to buy food and shit) should ingest ?
>>
Target weight (in pounds) multiplied by 10

It's a good rule of thumb
>>
>>7484901
1500-2500
>>
I dunno probably like 1700. Depends on the person. It's easier to just go for a walk.
>>

under 1k for fully sedentary lifestyle
>>

So if I'm 540 pounds and trying to get down to 499, I can have up to 4990 calories per day?
>>
>>7484922

In essence, yeah. Like I said, it's not hard science but it's a pretty effective metric. Once you start actively restricting your calorie intake you'll be amazed at how many calories you consume every day.
>>
>>7484903
Seems weird to me, I'm about 130 lb and I eat more than 1300 calories per day
>>
>>7484945

You might be really active or have a high metabolism. Again, rule of thumb, not statement of fact.
>>
>>7484969
I'm OP, so no, not really active. What about the height ?
>>
In hospital it's 1500 kcal as a baseline.

depending on your size, that might be too much, but it's a fine place to start
>>
>>7484903
so people who eat 2000 calories a day weigh 200 lbs
>>
>>7484969
dudebro, there's a reason that 2k calories a day is the FDA approved number. i don't weigh nearly enough and if i don't get any exercise i still eat about 2.2k calories a day. height and weight are kind of important though when determining this shit, i suggest one of the many calorie calculators online, and i also suggest going to /fit/ and not /ck/ for health related questions (i mean seriously i saw the whole carbs are bad meme like two days ago here)
>>
>>7484901
1.5k tops
>>
Read the fit sticky
>>

Pretty sure your body burns 1000 calories a day idly, that is assuming you don't even move a single muscle all day.
>>
/fit/ here. Don't eat 1000 calories or less. Don't just pick an arbitrary number and eat that many calories.

TDEE is Total Daily Energy Expenditure. That's how many calories your body burns everyday just being your body. One pound of fat is the equivalent of about 3500 calories. So if you're trying to (safely) lose weight, you eat 500 calories under your TDEE. This is a loss of one pound per week. The same is true, but opposite, if you're trying to gain weight.

I weigh 175lbs, so my TDEE is 2,179 calories. This is about 12 times my bodyweight. This is a quick way to approximate calories. A rule of thumb is 10x for losing weight, 12x for maintaining weight, and 14x for gaining weight.

Also READ THE STICKY.
>>
>>7484982
no, people who burn 2000 cals a day while resting do.
>>
>>7484901
your BMR
>>
>>7485338
>from fit and doesn't know what TDEE is
You got the acronym right but BMR is what your body burns by you just being alive, TDEE is your BMR + caloric burn from normal daily activity and not added intentional exercise.
