i always find america's concept of irishness hilarious

Nobody is under the impression that a reuben sandwich is Irish.
>>
>>7486176
Correct.

It's purely Jew.

America's concept of irish is just people who drink a lot
Seems pretty fair

The whole corned beef association is with Irish immigrants because they fucking loved that shit when they got to america as it was suddenly available when it was something only british landlords were able to have in Ireland at the time. Most foods that america associate with a country are based much more off the immigrants from that country and what they ate after being in america than they do with what the people who were left behind ate. Look at Italian food, pizza was invented in america by immigrants from Italy and became popular in America, now the product has gone back to Italy to became popular as tourists kept going there expecting it

Irish cuisine is even worse than British

Sorry anon, looks like you have to quit eating your favorite sandwich.
>>

>most frequently sold at jewish delis
no its not, its an america sandwich staple, common in all sorts of places
>>
>>7486401

"Most frequently" isn't the same as "exclusively".

Yeah, it's a popular sandwich sold at all sorts of places. Doesn't change the fact that it's primarily a staple of Jewish delis.

That suggest a majority of Reuben sales are done there, which I would very much disagree with, it has nothing to do with jewish people other than some of their sandwich places sell them similar to sandwich places of any other group in america

Had another one for breakfast.

Put in half the cheese and twice the meat.

>still have corned beef for days and going to do a big thing of hash for sunday breakfast
>>

>a majority of reuben sales are done there

That doesn't suggest that at all, if anything simply because of how few Jewish delis there are compared to other kinds of sandwich shops.

The point is that it was originally a Jewish deli item, and is still considered a Jewish deli item by most people, despite being a popular sandwich that is sold in places other than Jewish delis.

Jews are always stealing things and calling it their cultural heritage.
>>

To be fair, England's concept of Irishness is equally ridiculous, and we're neighbours.
>>

I'm honestly just amused by the constant butthurt over Jews being on average more creative and successful than everyone else.

Ehh, corned beef is rich people food. Killing a cow that could be used for milk was decadence, and only for end of life reasons, or for being rich. It would have been preserved or shared. And, corning it was as english as it comes, but they did a version of it with the salt they had in Ireland too. It just wasn't commonplace among peasants.....until....

the bountiful US immigration changed things as others have said!

It is indeed a staple at a jewish deli, probably only second to bagels. It will be as popular as well as pastrami, bagels with lox, egg salad, chicken salad, chopped liver, delicious pickles, homemade breads like onion knots, rye, pumpernickel, challah, and if you're lucky and it's full on diner mode, matzo ball soup, knishes, blintzes, and NY style cheesecake.

The sliced corned beef sandwich on rye (with deli mustard and pickles already on the table) vs the reuben is the question, though, and it's obvious diner food to griddle up a sandwich. The legend has it that it was a NY deli creation for Charlie Chaplin.
