I feel like they don't taste very good, or that there's a pocket of uncooked pancake batter in the center. Or both.
>>

Yep, rice cooker.

I've also seen them made in those chinese-style steamers.

pls explain how you would vide dough in a bag so that it would keep that shape.
>>
>>7476714

Place ring mold in bag. Place batter in ring mold. Vac seal.

Though I seriously doubt this is cooked via sous vide; sous vide temperatures are not hot enough to make it rise. You almost never see bread type foods cooked that way--it's usually limited to meats, fruits, and vegetables.

I just tried this, my rice cooker has an auto off switch so I cant regulate the temperature, I cooked it for the time it recommended even with a bolt to hold the ON button down, it burnt the bottom and the middle was half cooked, I've thrown it in my shitty electric oven to try finish the process but I dont have much hope for it.

You need a japanese/korean model with a sealing lid. Mine actually has a cake button on it and cooks these perfectly.
>>
>>7478014
yeah I think you're right, what brand and model do you have?

so after I left it in the oven for 20 minutes the outside started to get crispier and slightly burnt on top so i took it out, the fucking thing was still half cooked in the middle.
not trying this again till I get a proper rice cooker that can do it.
