Even with these instructions I have no idea how to do it.

You forgot the yeast. It's going to be flat.
>>

Soda bread is chemically leavened, not by yeast.

>>7473200
Too much sugar, IMO. And why no egg?
>>
>>7475032
But you need yeast to produce bubbles. That's how bread rises.

Not soda bread.

Quick breads don't use yeast.

Maybe if you let it sit out overnight it would pick up some yeast cultures from the air, but you can't just put it straight in the oven like the recipe seems to want you to do.

Do you not understand how baking soda and baking powder work?

Yeah, but I'm bored so arguing with people on /ck/ is mildly entertaining at the moment.

soda bread is too dense and crumbly.
>>

If I were to half this recipe, would it be better to use one egg or two egg?

What's the texture of this stuff like? Would blueberries be good in it? What about cranberries?

Sugar sugar sugar

Are all Amerifats unable to eat anything unless it's loaded with sugar?

In this recipe it's a flavouring and that's literally ALL ITS FOR

soda bread is bland. It tastes like flour. So that is why most people add stuff like raisins and nuts to it. It is very tasty with these additives, but becomes more of a junk food. I am sourdough guy.

It's not that bland, and it shouldn't taste like raw flour. It's amazing eaten with stews.

It also shouldn't have a cup of sugar in it, I don't know what the fuck OP is doing there.

It should actually taste a bit like sourdough, too. Most recipes use buttermilk or sour cream.
