Thread for in-depth criticism (both positive and negative) of plant cultivars.

I'll give you an example.

Although "Anne" is theoretically superior to "Fall Gold", I find "Fall Gold" holds up better in the heat of the South provided it is in partially shaded areas.

"Anne" doesn't grow very much, its yields are absurdly small, and the fruit never lasts to term. By contrast, "Fall Gold" grows tall and sturdy, produces considerably more fruit, and does so consistently.

So far I've been very disappointed in "Anne". I was hoping to get a complement to, if not an outright replacement for, "Fall Gold". Instead "Fall Gold" has completely outperformed it.

>growing your own food is autistic
>>
>>7455107

why do you put the names in quotation marks
>>
>>7455107
Literally huh?
>>
>>7455157
No, being autistic is autistic. Having a garden is good.

Shut up
>>

Hah. I've read official comparisons of raspberry cultivars and they are way more in-depth that what I said.

Winter Survival percentage
Growing Season (by exact dates)
Yield per pounds
Yield consistency per year
Fruit size by inches
Taste Panel preference
Disease resistance
Insect resistance
Sunburn resistance

shut don't go up
>>
>>7455160

Habit I picked up from browsing official comparisons. They put the names in quotation marks, though they use 1 set instead of 2.
>>
>>7455174
Yes, you have autism
>>
>>7455183

Yes, because when spending a considerable amount of dollars on plants, you must be completely ignorant of whether or not the cultivars are worth a damn.

>somebody knows more about something than me and possibly has a productive hobby
>better shitpost and call him autistic
it sounds like you feel inferior anon, but you shouldn't.

Calm down, friends
>>
>>7455205

Alright. Let me rephrase. Has anyone bought two types of plants and compared them? Say a Mortgage Lifter versus a Brandywine tomato.
>>
>>7455182

single quotation marks are for names, doubles are for actual quotes (or sarcasm).
>>
>>7455225
Singles are for strings, doubles are for strings you want to interpolate.
>>
>>7455225

Yeah I said that.

'Caroline' instead of "Caroline".
>>

It varies very widely, I don't think there is an accepted convention in any flavour of English.
