Not shitting you, I would probably kill myself. Not being able to go to my favorite mexican restaurant, get a plate of tacos, some habanero salsa, and a modelo or two? That is something worth dying over. I would be able to handle finding out I was impotent before finding out I couldn't have spicy food or alcohol.
I thought I was in that boat for life. I had the same thing, spicy food and alcohol would wreck my system. But I got better, after a long period of taking it real easy. Now I can eat spicy food and alcohol like a normal person, and over indulge on them separately with no problemo. (although, one night of over indulgence on both could quite easily put me back where I was)

No diagnosis. Just symptoms at home.
Couple months of being bedridden from internal bleeding and pain. A year of mild diet, then it happened again, and another couple months of hell. (I did see a doc of course. He basically just told me to take it easy and see if it goes away) 2 years later, I was 90% healed. Very happy to be able to to eat and drink normally again.

um, type 1 (juvenile diabetes) in my case is largely thought to be more genetically linked, than say type 2. Type 1 in my case is a result from my body attacking certain cells of the pancreas in an autoimmune function. Type 2 is largely due to the pancreas being overworked and/or body becoming insulin resistant. Eosionphilic gastoenteritis is about the same concept from what I've been led to believe in that my body has an immune response (eosinophils) being triggered by certain foods being thought of as a foreign matter that needs to be neutralized. It's more common in the esophagus, but in my case happens in the intestines.
So while I cant say that eating differently might of changed things, the research I've done along with what my specialist have told me would lead me to believe it was just genetic error until we learn more
