Alcoholic here. I don't drink soda except as a mixer, but when I do I have minimum 3 cans a night, and considering I'm not drinking for taste, diet makes perfect sense.

coke zero has the same recipe as normal coke but with aspartme and ace k as sweeteners instead of HFCS, diet coke tastes like ass as it has an entirely different recipe and is aspartame only.
the sucralose version of diet coke was terrible too
I gave up all soda and replaced it with unsweetened green tea.
I dont miss the Soda at all, or the 50 pounds I lost.
Diet Vernors, Diet A&W Root Beer, and Diet Dr. Pepper taste close to their originals. Everything else is lacking in sweetness.

also acesulfame potassium, ace k, balances out aspartame's after taste and the aspartame does the same for the ace k. A mixture of low cal sweeteners almost always is better than just one except maybe erythritol.
