I could use red onions for everything.
>>
>>7431487
yellow, because you can use it everywhere for everything and not give a shit
>>
I tend to use red onions the most. No real reason, I simply like the way the look.
>>
D-do you guys like onions on your hot dogs?
>>
Yellow for general use
White for cooking
Red for raw or salad and sandwiches
>>
>>7431530
Yes. Polish dog, onions, deli mustard and sweet relish. Perfect Costco dog.
>>
>>7431487
I like yellow, red onions are too spicy
>>
red for salad, sandwiches

brown for everything else
>>
>>7431530

Yes
>>
Brown ones, but only when they're cooked.

Raw onions can fuck off.
>>
Yellow onions for any kind of cooking.

White onions for Mexican cooking.

Red onions for Indian cooking, and for eating raw in salads.
>>
>>7431487
red onions for salads and sandwiches, and in things like guac or spicy foods.

yellow onions for caramelizing, soup/stew, and as aromatics

white onions are the worst of both worlds and should naturally be avoided.
>>
Some day I will actually taste a shallot.
>>
>>7431618

someday i'll find out what's up with vidalia and walla walla onions.

i've gone too long not knowing shit about onions. i've topped burgers and sandwiches with excessively pungent and sharp basic white onion.

awkward!

That will be a good day for you.
>>

Never seen white in Sweden. Love yellow but red can be really good raw.

>>7431487
Red by far
>>
>>7431487
I've never seen white onions in Scandinavia. How does the taste compare to red and yellow?
>>
>>7431530
Who doesn't?
Grilled sausage, ketchup, mustard, remoulade, raw yellow onions, cripy onions and pickled cucumber.
>>
>>7431618
I find them to be more mild and sweeter in taste.
>>
>>7431992
A bit sharper and not as sweet as yellow onion.
>>
>>7431992

They're in between. Milder than yellow but stronger than red.
>>
>>7431487
I usually use yellow onions, mainly because it's the kind my parents always cooked with, and it's the kind we use at the burger joint where I work.
>>
>>7431714
i've made basically what he's talking about, but i also had some tomatoes so i added those as well.
it was okay.

Which onion is best for deep frying? It comes out almost boiled more so than fried or raw.
>>
>>7433525
As in onion rings
>>
>>7431487
it's situational

yellow for cooking
red for salady stuff
>>
yellow is the only one I regularly use, so yellow
>>
I use mostly red onions, but sometimes I use white because sometimes their sharper flavor is needed. I rarely if ever use yellow onions.
>>
Spanish onion
>>
>>7431491
onion soup? pot roast?
>>
>>7431618
how hard can it be to just buy one, saute it in whatever form you feel like, taste it here and there, maybe spice, maybe on top of eggs, try seeing how it reacts to sugar to caramelize it.
