Most tacos in Mexico are soft. In fact, "hard shell tacos" are nearly unheard of there. Hard shell tacos are an American invention and have little to do with the real thing.

Nah, crispy taco shells are tasty, but a couple of warmed/softened tortillas is the way to go for tacos IMHO.
