What is it called?
preheated the oven to 300 degrees F
>cube steak
don't fuck this up or my meemaw will get right out her grave and beat the shit out of you with her wooden spoon
sliced the shrooms
patted the meat dry with paper towels and seasoned with salt
some butter in the pan over mid high heat
seared the beef on both sides
>>7424536
Some kind of shitty stew?
Wtf is happening here?
>>7424562
The beef is no good.
>>7424571
>searing the beef for the stew
It was already bad enough
browned the shrooms in two batches
sliced the onion
>>7424581
Those mushrooms are absurdly overcooked.
already looks pretty tasty
needs ketchup
made a little roux with a tablespoon of flour and a tablespoon of butter
the tomato paste will thicken the sauce up quite a bit so I don't need much roux
half a small can of tomato paste
about a cup and a half of beef stock with the onions, mushrooms and a generous hit of black pepper

lid on and in the oven for about 1.5 to 2 hours

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
cut up the taters
boiled them until tender
I still dont know what the fuck is going on but it looks 5/10
gently cooked some minced garlic in butter
drained the taters, added the garlic butter, sour cream, salt, pepper and a splash of milk
mashed it all up
pulled it out of the oven after 2 hours

This steak is cut from a bottom round and I know from previous experiments that bottom round makes incredibly tough CFS.
I'll admit that it's not a particularly photogenic dish but this motherfucker tastes incredibly good.
The steak is fork tender, the sauce is velvety and packed with flavor, the mashed potatoes have just the right amount of garlic to balance everything.

Is it worth dirtying a whole other pot just to melt butter and garlic together?
>>7424858
yes, it is worth the 20 seconds it takes to wash a tiny saucepan you lazy faggot
>>7424868
it's not like they wouldn't melt in the hot potatoes.
>>7424876
raw garlic is sharp and overpoweringly pungent, Einstein. cooking it for several minutes in butter mellows the flavor
>>7424854
Looks awful, sounds awful and is probably awful.
>>7424581
Those mushrooms are so brown they wouldn't get nominated for an oscar
