You're right with the food being off, but there's no reason to not eat something somebody made you because there's an ingredient which isn't your favourite. Picky eaters can leave. If it's a case of an unhealthy meal, eating one isn't going to significantly impact your health. If they cook them for you all the time, just mention to them one day you're on a strict diet or that you'd like to see them try something more healthy.
