Not really. It has kind of a neutral flavor, it's starchy kind of like a potato. They're pretty good.
It haw white flesh that when cooked is very dry and bland, is usuallynsered with meat or fish and soaks up gravy lke bread.
I love it, used to have a tree in our backyard till a hurricane killed it. The fruit is very sappy, a white, sticky sap. When you pick it you have to sit it on its head where the stem came out to drain it. Then you peel it and roast on an open fire. Then yu slice it into pegs like an orange and lightly fry and you get its surface to crust like bread.

Oven Baked Breadfruit
INGREDIENTS:
1 Mature Whole Breadfruit
1 Teaspoon vegetable or coconut oil.
Alumni foil
Preheat your over to 425F
Rub the outside of breadfruit with the oil
Wrap the breadfruit completely with the foil wrap
Bake for approx. 1 hour
Use skewer to check if cooked.
When cooked use pot holder to remove the foil wrap, then hold and peel off skin.
Cut in half.
Cut out the ‘heart’ (uneatable portion in the middle with seed).
Cut breadfruit into pegs and serve.

Back in Barbados we used to have these trees growing everywhere. For a snack we would take these and fry them and eat them like plantain chips. They taste like a really starchy french fry with a unique flavor

The best way I can describe it is it tastes EXACTLY like a potato that was grown in a tree instead of underneath the ground.

They are quite delicious, buy have a lot of texture and aren't very sweet. They do come in lots of colors, though.
