This reminds me of highschool. In my co-op class, there was a huge poster on the wall that said "BORN IN THE USA" and it was a pic of a cheeseburger. Why it was there was beyond me, but I stole it one day. I wish I still had that poster or at least find the exact image and have the poster made somewhere.

In defense of pizza being posted, I have an Italian friend here on a student visa and he refuses to recognise Italian-American cuisine as Italian. Including the pizza.
The cuisine that Italian immigrants developed in their new homeland is pretty far removed from that of the mother country, in a way you can't say about mac and cheese, which is the same in America as it is in England.

LA literally has every type of restaurant you can think of. There are some fantastic burger joints and any ethnicity food possible. Check out tripadvisor or Yelp and read some reviews about restaurants. Also, GrubHub is pretty nice because they'll deliver from a lot of places and getting around L.A. is more than half the battle when visiting.
