I like my steak rare, coffee black and chocolate 90% or higher. I refuse to believe, however, that a lot of you genuinely dislike 'pleb' foods. There must be 5 people on the planet at most who would eat a Cadburys dairy milk and actually not enjoy the taste, or get one of Starbucks dessert coffees and think it tastes bad. Even a well done steak tastes delicious, you'd have to purposefully burn a piece of beef to make it taste bad
>>
It's just insecure children who want to appear mature by pretending they like very specific things in order to gain a false sense of superiority.
>>

but cadbury's dairy milk has actually been shit for years ever since the americans took over

There are a lot of insecure 16-19 year olds on this website

I like black coffee just fine, although I do prefer a spoonful of honey, but to say a scooters carmelicious isn't good would be retarded
Might as well say ice cream is bad

I personally can't stand super sweet/sugary things, so yeah, I think cadbury's and dessert coffees are terrible.

Reeces too. I used to eat 8-10 peanut butter cups in a sitting

For things like sweet choclate I'm okay with, but sweet cakes I find disgusting. I much prefer something like an ice-cream cake or a cheese cake.

Another cloyingly sweet thing. I would enjoy the first sip or two, but it would quickly become too much for me.
>a well done steak tastes delicious,
This is true. It just seems like a waste if the steak was good enough to be perfectly soft at med rare to cook it to well. It's like using a really nice bottle of wine for cooking - you can do it and the result will be delicious, but it's kind of a waste.

Nah, just the ones that find it necessary to talk about it anonymously on the internet and insecurely call out anyone who doesn't agree with their "patrician" tastes.
>>
>>7390575
Not the Anon you're replying to, but I don't think too many people eat or drink things for the image those things project. Where they shop and what restaurants they eat at generally reflect their class status (or aspirations), but when it comes to something as personal as what they actually put in their mouths I think most folks choose what they actually like.

But there is a difference between simple and complex tasting foods. Complex flavors inspire connoisseurship, which creates a luxury market for the most prized examples. This is why you can find ground beef in just about any supermarket, but have to go out of your way to get your hands on a dry aged Prime steak. To someone who is content with a burger made from supermarket ground beef spending the extra time and money for the more complex flavors of the dry aged steak might seem silly or pretentious. But for someone with the dough to blow and a love of complex flavors it's a no brainer.
>>

In the US people are so used to food being cheap that many people recoil at paying more (often substantially more) for better quality food. Also the idea of being a connoisseur doesn't really fit with the generally held Protestant populist values. Being too fond of good things makes you a snob here, where in countries where they place a greater cultural value on the quality of the food they eat (France, Italy, Japan) choosing the good stuff over the cheap if you can afford it is just common sense.

White rice tastes delicious if I'm hungry enough.

Problem is that a well done steak, it's not the steak that tastes good, but the fat. (Furthermore a lean steak or well marbled steak DOES taste like shit if well done)

Starbucks dessert coffees either have to be really hot och freezing cold to be enjoyable, anything near room temperature and you will instantly feel how vile it actually tastes.
Even though i have never tried Cadburys (scandinavian) i do not enjoy generic milk choclate since it often tastes way too sweet.

A well done steak can be good if it's rested properly so the juices remains, but i will actually enjoy a rare steak much more.

I do eat fast food sometimes when i am on the road or shitfaced, but i still ofc enjoy a proper meal from a real restaurant or home cooked meal a lot more.

Agree completely, but with simple things quality matters. It's hard to beat a ripe apple picked right off the tree or a potato freshly dug from the ground. But neither a Cadbury Dairy Milk or a Starbucks dessert coffee are simple things. Soy lecithin and artificial vanilla flavor are not simple ingredients - they are manufactured in industrial plants.
>>
>>7389810

I re-examined my diet a handful of years ago as I was in university and eating take out, fast food, drinking pop, and all sorts of other shit. Did my best to start eating healthy and cut out a lot of sugar and completely stopped drinking pop.

While it's not "bad" tasting a lot of stuff I simply find too sweet but that is a result of doing my goddamn hardest to eat as little extra sugar as I can. Don't get me wrong now, every week to 10 days I'll have a day and buy a load of shit from the grocery store and pig out but I feel like garbage after. But back on track to your statement, OP, some stuff I find too sweet to enjoy. It's good, yeah, but would feel much better if it were only slightly less sweet
>>
>>7393871
This actually happened to me today. I've been on a keto diet for about a month and a half, maybe two. I've lost 20lbs so far and I wanted to have a McDonalds sweet tea with my lunch. I used to love them because they were just a bit sweeter than the tea my grandparents used to make. After I drank approximately a cup of sugar I felt like complete shit. I could down two of them as well as a meal and not feel anything before I started my diet.
>>
>>7393871

i always found starbucks desert coffees sickly sweet. i don't like food that is much sweeter than it needs to be.
