what is the best store bought tomato sauce?
>>7383143
the one self-made of fresh, store-bought tomatoes
This is the only one I haven't hated. Usually jarred sauce tastes like slightly less sweet ketchup with basil.
>>7383155
That's not what he asked faggot fucker
Del Monte garlic and onion. 100% srs.
>>7383143
CONTADINA tomato sauce. Not puree. Not crushed. I'm very confident about it's sodium content.
The cheapest one and then you doctor it up
Costco marinara
Making this bad boy tomorrow. What near should I make with it? Probably fettachini

Jack pls
>>7383143
man just sweat some garlic and onions and then add a can of crushed tomatoes, its always better than that jarred shit
Anything sporting the label Newman's Own is good quality.

approximately jack pls*

Newman's Own is the bomb, junior.
If I'm rushed for time and in a pinch, I grab a jar of Newman's Own Sockarooni. It's a great base for doctoring up and it's only $1.88 at my closest store.

Del Monte in big ass cans and it doesn't cost much and it tastes more of tomatoes than say hunts or heinz and I can add whatever I want to it.
Paying $15 for some small fancy jarred bottle makes no sense to me when I can buy a decent base one for myself and add what I want to it and make it better than anything from some fancy bottle.
Yes, I can do this for myself with the all the base ingredients but I don't always care to do so.
literally just buy marzano tomatoes canned, break them up with your hands and simmer. fuck the other shit. and its cheap too like 80 cents a can or something.
Rao's

Enjoy being a sucker paying $20/small bottle for some celebrity shit.
>>7383143
heinz ketchup.
>>7384748
basically the only right answer.
>>7384748
what magical store is this from? San Marzanos cost 4-6$ for a medium sized can, enough for 2/3 (decent) servings of sauce.
>>7383143
Better question: What's the best brand of canned tomatoes for making sauce? Pic related, my mom made the best pasta sauce out of these.
>>7384814
yeah dunno where he got that number maybe he confused it but i see it for like 4 bucks and 2 cans is all you need for sauce . 8 bucks is still the cheapest in this thread and marzanos are god tier
>>7384817
san marzanos is the only answer.
>>7384581
no, I'm Kyle
>>7383143
Picture very related.
Pay $2.69 for a giant #10 can of S&W Whole Peeled Tomatoes at Costco.
Drain it, and blend the tomatoes a little bit. Season with salt, sugar, citric acid, MSG.
It takes about 3 minutes, and most of that time is opening the can. You have enough tomato sauce for weeks.
>>7384572
I tried that the other day. It needed way more mushroom.
>>7385946
Not a fan of this one, the large chunks of unripe tomatoes was really disappointing. I really like White Linen Collection, though their recipe has changed a bit.
>>7384829
This anon knows what's up. Get a can of San Marzano tomatoes, squish em up with your hands, pour it in a pan with garlic, oregano, olive oil and a lil red pepper, simmer for 20 mins, you got yourself some fantastic southern Italian tomato source. Pick related
I go by Francesco Rinaldi

Buy proper tomatoes from a store and cook them with some EVOO.
>>7387869
Agreed

Where to? Perchance to... flavortown??
>>7389552
>EVOO
When will this meme die?
There are "Extra Virgin" olive oils that taste worse than good ones - it's a marketing term that doesn't mean shit. Especially if it's going in a fucking sauce.
And besides, everyone knows that the authentic recipe calls for 1 and a half cups of Canola oil and 4 cans of Contadina tomatoes. Marie's recipe is used in professional kitchens worldwide.

The only patrician choice.

Actually, you're right. Everyone knows tomatoes grown in fields don't have the optimal sodium levels that contadina tomatoes have. That and the highly refined canola oil (which in itself is an epithet of the U.S.'s rise to the World's strongest power via a strive towards mechanization and an adulation for technology that is nuanced by the free reign given to the indvidual through the exercise of trade in the free market) make for a unique combination of ingredients that is unsurpassable by mother nature (whom we have surpassed).
