Canada Dry is perfect tonic water. Fuck all the hipster brands. Fever Tree is fucking garbage. To much citrus, not enough quinine, weird floral notes. It's a fucking mess. Q Tonic is way over the top, and gets marketed as a superior choice for mixing a G&T when its unbalanced flavour profile will only mask the gin. Schweppes is too sweet, in my opinion, but Britfags will disagree because Schweppes is the classic tonic for them in the same way Canada Dry is for us. Fentimans is also a bit too sweet.
Canada Dry is just bitter enough and doesn't overpower the gin when used as mixer, and its just sweet enough without being cloying. Most importantly, its just what I expect tonic water to taste like. It's the baseline by which every other tonic is judged.
