You're looking for something that can be eaten without looking at what you're eating, and won't leave a mess. A bag of sweets (excluding ones with a sugar or sour coating) are great for that.
If it has to be savoury, something like chips could work well as long as they're not greasy.
Before I play I'll cut and put them into a bowl and it's a nice finger food snack. this and clementines. good for hydration.
