Legal factors (licensing, patent, copyright) can result in products being discontinued. Problems with the supply chain could make the product difficult nigh impossible to produce.
Though I agree in this case those alternate issues are really unlikely. They probably didn't sell well enough so were discontinued in favor of something else.
