Quick desc:

I would be miserable if I didn't have at least some means of cooking food. I guess the best advice would be to make sure you have those amenities at your next place, otherwise you're stuck with microwaved and fast food

I tried saving some money by buying 2 pizzas from PizzaHut for 12.99 (w/ $10off coupon) and eat them on 3 days. It worked last month.

This month I kept trying new stuff. Rotisserie chicken from Kroger/Sam's Club and buying fries from McD/JackInTheBox.

I live on about £150 per month on food. I am not from england and travelling here each university semester means it is too heavy to carry many pans etc. i live off a saucepan, a pan, and two oven dishes to do all my cooking.

OP here.
Does your 150 include transportation?

My expenses include water/drinks/gas/food.

>groceries: ~200 dollars
>junk food: ~140 dollars
And I assume at least a quarter of your grocery budget is junk food anyway.
I wonder how you could possibly save money. Nope, can't think of anything. I don't have any tips for you.

Oh, actually, you can just buy an electric skillet for like, 50 buckaronis. Or you can cook things out of a coffee pot.
Dunk some eggs into your kettle and make yourself hard boiled eggs.

I walk to the store. I drink a lot of cordial or tap water and don't drink alcohol or soda, so yes, that is £150 for my entire food related budget. This does include the occasional fast food every two or three weeks.

Microwaveable food, frozen chicken, ice cream, soft drinks .. well they all fall under junk food category.

I'll probably buy one next week, there's for $20 on Amazon. I have to finish the microwaveable food I have and then start a new journey.

Will that increase my electricity bill?
Thanks!

Barely. It'll be an order of magnitude cheaper than buying pizza, in any case.

My expenses for January were roughly:
~$40 Sprouts
~$15 King Soopers (read: Kroger)
~$10 Walmart
~$10 if you averaged out bulk purchases of flour, lentils, and oatz I'd made in previous months

Basically I've been frugal as fuck - vegetarian diet, bake bread at home 3 times a week, no eating out, no holiday or birthday meals to host this month, no alcohol until yesterday when I saw how unexpectedly large my tax returns for the past year are.

I'm poor but manage my money well - I actually haven't done anything but read books, drink tea, watch animu, and ride bikes since the middle of November, don't even plan on going back to work until March.

How much longer is left on your lease? It might not be worth buying an electric skillet if you'll be moving somewhere with a stove soon

OP here.
I quit my job back in 2013 and started focusing on school. I started selling stuff on eBay.
>Buy stuff for $4k, make $1-3k profit monthly.
>I went overseas last summer and asked my brother to take care of the business.
> He didn't check eBay account for 2 months. many "item not received" cases were opened. eBay closed my account and asked me to upload a proof that something happened. my bro felt it was his fault, he opened an account using his info. I am doing my best to recover. I'm running out of money, last $2k in my bank account. Applied for couple jobs, goes to interviews, didn't get hired because of the gap in my resume (2013-2016)
