A decent steak doesn't *need* sauce, but ANY steak can be enhanced by sauce, e.g. bearnaise, bordelaise, etc. can make a good steak into a great steak. It all depends on how you use it.
Overcooked steak (well done) is usually in need of a good ass sauce. For burgers, definitely A1, tastes fucking amazing on there.
I usually put a little A1 or London Pub Sauce in my meatloaf. Also, if I'm doing sandwiches with leftover flank steak or tri trip, a little steak sauce helps with the fact that it'll inevitably be a little overcooked from the reheating.
Does anyone else feel like A-1 is just some poor man's balsamic vinegar substitute?
Make a proper glaze with balsamic vinegar and it's like it's everything A-1 wishes it could be.

A1 isn't a good sauce, but a good steak is only hurt by not having a good sauce accompanying. Unless of course you have a shit tongue incapable of handling more than a couple flavors at once.
That said A1 sucks on steak, but its pretty great on burgers
