no idea, but from my personal experience it has something to do with people being predisposed to high quantities of almond joy candies or mounds as a child. Something about the coconut in that candy is sickening. Mounds more so than the almond joys in my opinion.
So simple but can be fucked up so easily. idk why people make them too moist/rich, there needs to be balance.
Best cookies are those butter cookies or whatever that come in the big ass tin.

Mounds has improved in recent years with better dark chocolate masking the cheap coconut flavor and Almond Joys have always had the almonds to provide a crunch to counter the gooeyness of the coconut.
Neither are all that great, and Samoas are forever god-tier cookies.
