Is keeping rice in water in the fridge good for keeping it from going hard and stale, or will it just go bad?

wtf

how does rice go stale? do you go through a bag like, what, every 3 years?

You're just going to make it mushy. Best way to use old rice is to make a stir fry with it. The chinks have been doing this for centuries.

didn't quite understand you. if you're talking about cooked rice, >>7322438 is correct

if you need to revitalize refrigerated rice, you can steam it lightly for a short period to restore its softness. or you can just leave it in the rice cooker like every asian person.

Make fried rice.

Put it into water and boil it to make porridge.

Goddamn OP, the chinks perfected leftover rice you can't beat 2000 years of rice genetics.

how long are you trying to store it?

i just keep rice in a bowl with some plastic wrap, lasts up to week im pretty sure.

After keeping rice for a day or so it becomes hard. He's asking if keeping it in water is a good way to prevent that.

Rice becomes hard when it's cold because it reverts back to a crystalline structure. It becomes soft again once it's reheated. If it gets dry you can just mix in a teaspoon of water or so and reheat it covered.
