Take hamburger or black bean sub. Mix with onions, (some) corn, green chilis, garlic, cilantro, and some dried chili powder of your choice. Brown mix in skillit. Dollop sum of dat shit in a corner tortilla, fold, then fry in hamburger fat or corn oil. Shit is cash.
>>
>>7321182
dont add lettuce or tomato or sour cream, they destroy the taco

do add a meat cooked in BUTTER or LARD and do add a good pico or guacamole....the acid cuts through the butter/lard for a delicious elite taco

if you really need to go full blown american taco this is my go to recipe:

season ground beef or chicken with cumin (or) your favorite lame taco seasoning. basically you want that cumin flavor above all.

fry that up in butter or lard

stuff the corn toritlla with the meat and cheddar cheese and minced onion

fold corn tortilla in half and fry them shut, using the cheese as glue

final product should be a tender cheesy and meaty goodness. open up and dump in your favorite guac or salsa
>>
>>7321245
>sour cream

that is the worst thing on the planet
>>
I char red peppers, roast corn, slow cook beef tips after a quick sear, throw on some crema, use several cheeses (including cheddar because I'm not legit, sadly), topped with lactopickled jalapeƱos/onions, diced heirloom tomatoes, cilantro and lime juice. I usually coat the inside of my grilled corn tortillas with some homemade refried black beans too, if I have time. This shit takes forever to make, but it's awesome. Honestly though you can do fucking anything with a taco. I am not too ashamed to admit I've experimented with tater tots, for instance.

It's all about good seasoned beef,

add a little sugar to the beef, some paprika, and some chile powder,
Lettuce, iceburg or romaine,
Cheese, shredded,
tomato, diced,

SOUR CREAM makes a great taco,

for the best tacos, you're going to want to make the tortilla yourself, it makes a HUGE difference.

I don't like shells, but if you do buy shells, bake them a bit before you use, makes them a bit softer and seem fresher.
>>
>>7323426
If your taco involves ground meat its already shit
>>
>>7323428

ok fine,

batter some fish and fry it up,
and in some cabbage, spicy mayo, top with shred cheese.
or chicken, cook / season then shred

but ground beef is best in my opinion.
>>
>>7322504
>this

use pork lard to pan fry your beef bits until they are done to your taste (just getting crispy is godtier) heat the corn tortillas with a little of the grease on the pan. Addd chopped onion and cilantro and serve with a tangy sauce or guacamole.

If you dont care about cholesterol you can also carameliza some onion with the lard and add it on your tacos.
>>
1.) Wheat soft tacos
2.) Medium greasy spiced beef
- Paprika, pepper, citrus
3.) Shredded iceberg lettuce or spinach
4.) Crema [Mexican sour cream]
- Or you can mix 50/50 sour cream and cream cheese
5.) Avocado
6.) Diced cherry tomatoes, green bell pepper
7.) Mexican cheese

>>
>>7323450
Local or original usage isn't always the best.
Sometimes cultures use what they have available or only what they've been exposed to.
Experimentation is good for artisan cooking.
An example of this was how Citric Acid [obtained from semi-citric foods through simple processes] was used for thousands of years in the West until traders brought in Citric Fruits from Asian and Africa.
>>

I love fish tacos, and will get them over ground beef, but most places manage to fuck up their fish tacos, also I live in the middle of the desert and don't trust fish from stores.

Chicken tacos are just as good.

I don't steak taco, steak goes in burrito or eaten as a steak.

I love ground beef. I'm white.

sometimes I'll season / cook up a bunch of it, and keep it in the fridge for whenever I need an emergency taco (just ground beef with american cheese on tortilla)

aw m8 let me tell you about some taco shit

the elements of taco:

Meat:
taco's live or die by the meat, the worst meat is clearly mince; don't use mince.
better is a shaved kebab style
better again is a slow cooked meat
keep your seasoning minimal, because the meat is paired with a sauce

goat>beef>pork, a fish is fine as well

Onion:
shaved onion, raw
hard to fuck this part up

lettuce:
mexicans didn't have lettuice, but since being raped by the spanish they got a taste for it

Wrap:
wheat and corn tortia both acceptable, hard shell is not.
if you get corn, make sure it's the special kind cooked with an alkali
make your own if you have the skills, I could never get it right myself
snobs will say flour is for gringos, but it's popular in north mexico

Sauce:
typicaly defined by the chilli that goes into them, they range in heat from hot to really hot
explorers said of the mexicans "if there isn't chilli in their food it's hard to convince them that they are eating"

cheese on tacos, sour cream, chicken tacos are very el gringo

Nah m8. Ground beef is pretty shit. You can go to a Mexican market and buy something like pork leg for 1 dollar a pound .
>>
>>7325194
Nope. I've eating lot of crappy enchiladas with that crap. Why not puree some chiles and work your way around that ?
>>
This is OP here and I guess I must have shit taste, since I like my tacos with ground beef.
>>
>>7325201
you do. go back to taco bell you shitter
>>
>>7325198
Cause you aren't cooking it right.

You put one can per one pound of meat in skillet at the same time. Cook meat until done and Pato is gone from the pan. Spices go into meat, tomato cap cooks off.

Spicy infused meat. Not a topping. Not enchiladas.

This is for tacos.
>>
>>7325195
Takes too long to cook for tacos. They shouldn't take more than 10 minutes from start to eat.

That is for burritos, tortas, enchiladas, or tamales. Tacos are quick and easy.
>>
>>7325209
When did you become the authority for making tacos? ? Besides something like fish tacos take less than 15 minutes to make
>>
>>7323566
>corn husk right before the crepe

>>
>>7325212
I'm from the SouthWest. It is in our blood.

Fish tacos are hit or miss. Can be great, can also be shit. I am just giving the OP the answer he is looking for. Easy quick tasty tacos.

Put whatever toppings you want on them. You can't go wrong with toppings of your own choice.
>>
>>7325209
>Spend 10 minutes making a shitty food

Yea fuck your rule
>>
>>7325220
>Spend 10 minutes making better tacos than you can handle.
>Watch you tip your fedora with pork leg for an hour after everyone is already full on tacos.

You can leave already. Tacos are not complicated, hard to make, pretentious, hipster, high class, or high end. Fuck off with your shit. Tacos are street food. Like a hot dog jackass.
>>
>>7325223
Do you know that barbacoa takes hours to make ?
>>
>>7325223
I know your tacos aren't good because you use ground meat. I'm sure you think you're hot shit because you actually made the spice yourself after watching the chili episode of good eats but that shit is easy to do.

Hot dogs are never good and I never buy them. Its the same deal, spend 2 dollars for a food I know won't be good or spend 4 dollars for something like a sausage that actually taste good.

I only eat them at BBQs when they have run out of burgers and steaks
>>
>>7325225
If I wanted pot roast, I wouldn't be eating tacos.

Did you know sashimi doesn't take any time to cook?
>>
>>7325226
Real tacos, the really authentic and amazing tasting tacos cost .50 per taco. In Mexico. Spend 4 dollars on Chipotle tacos if you want hipster.
>>
>>7325230
>Food cost different prices in different countries

>>
>>7325226
Also, you don't BBQ burgers, steaks, or hot dogs you faggot.

>How to spot a Chipotle shill?
>Barbacoa
>BBQ steak, burger, hot dog
>>
>>7325229
Most Mexican food is slow cooking in the form of stews . Before there was ground beef hard shell tacos before there was tacos al pastor there was stuff like . Meat cooked underground and eaten in a taco as well as pork cooked in a green sauce for examples . Yes tacos are street food but street food =\= cooked under 10 minutes
>>
>>7325231
Chipotle has the same prices everywhere right?

Actual Mexican Street Tacos in the US cost .50 each. 3 tacos(with 6 corn tortillas) 1.50.

Crazy eh?
>>
>>7325232
I know your food is bad because you're autistic and think you're making a point by purposefully being obtuse and trying to imply that only specific method of cooking barbecue is the one only meaning instead of being the most popular term for when people cook food outside on a grill as well. You definitely read some recipe liked it and refuse to change or adjust.
>>
>>7325239
Nope, just letting you know the difference between actual tacos and Chipotle.

And BBQ vs grilling. Pretty simple.
>>
>>7325236
Maybe in some shitty border town, there are no 50 cent tacos in the places people actually want to live. And if they do cost 50 cent they're definitely going to be shitty.

Also I'm not poor and have a real job and can afford to splurge and spend 7 whole dollar on lunch
>>
>>7325236
No they don't . And if they were they are most likely crap. No taco specialist will ever make tacos that low of a price because back in Mexico tacos cost much

>>
>>7325617
None. Tortilla is choice, like bread for sandwich. Pick what you like. You can make harder she'll flour tortilla shells if you fry them up like how you make hard shell corn tortillas.

They both make for awesome homemade chips too.

6 tortillas cut into 1/8ths. Fry till bubbles show flip them for 20-30 seconds, drain excess oil and onto a paper towel. Hot and fresh chips.
>>
>>7325617

do you warm your corn tortillas up bro? you can fry em for puffy tacos too, or just fry them in general to make them tender/crunchy

>>
heat up some *corn* tortillas til they get some color. seasoned beef (i dont find the seasoning that important, but there should at least be salt and pepper--dont really like premade mexican seasoning) even cheap cuts are ok. you can use pretty much any meat/seafood. chorizo is really good too. squeeze limes on everything. cotija cheese is god tier but if theres nothing else, the branded "mexican queso quesadilla" is alright. raw chopped onions (any kind), cilantro and sliced radishes if you're into that. finish it up with guacamole, homemade if possible

step 4: eat and enjoy.

put it on a tortilla with about half the ammount of ingredients you see in your picture.

if you don't know any recipes, google. try them. don't sit around waiting for the 'perfect' recipe, instead be willing to taste them all and eventually you'll develop the mastery to wing it proper.

I'm a central Texas white guy. I grew up on beans, mostly cuz we were dirt poor, but to this day I make a pound a week, usually have them on tostadas. Throw some onions, serranos, occasionally a touch of cheese and some shredded meat and that's dinner.

Fried corn is fine, but soft corn taste and textually overpowers everything for me. I get no contrast, just that grainy bs. The only exception I grant is my buddy from hs, his dad slaughters a goat day of, they slow cook it and his mom makes corn tortillas and this spicy as hell mole.

I never got the love for corn tortillas. Soft shell flour doesn't add anything, but I think soft shell corn actually detracts although its not terrible. Store bought hard shell is always disgusting. My favorite is freshly fried flour so that its hot but still partially soft, although I've never had freshly fried corn
>>
>>7331922
No, sausage is literally ground meat.
>>
>>7331948

It's not just "ground meat". It contains a lot of that, sure. But it has a critically important ratio of fat, added moisture, and salt. Those things aren't usually found in just "ground meat", and if the ratio is wrong in a sausage then the texture is horrible. Not to mention sausages contain seasoning.
>>
>>7331948
Sausage is literally ground pork? So when I ask for a sausage I get ground pork? When you go to the grocery store the ground pork has a sausage casing?

Or are you a faggot with no point
>>
>>7331964
Buy ground beef with more fat. Season ground beef. Same thing.
>>
>>7331978
What do you think sausage is? It is ground pork. Pretty fucking simple. We are talking tacos here. You gonna slap a sausage link on a taco you bum?
>>
>>7331980

But then it's not ground beef anymore. You just described the process of converting ground beef into sausage meat.
>>
>>7331988
No, I cooked ground beef for tacos.

Crazy concept right?
>>
>>7331984
>What do you think sausage is?

It's a food made from a combination of ground meat, fat, salt, and liquid in the proper ratio. It's often packed into a casing but not necessarily.

>>You gonna slap a sausage link on a taco you bum?

Nope. But I'm not going to put "sausage meat" or ground meat in one either. That's just as bummish as putting a link in there.

The closest I might get would be to fry up some chorizo or thinly sliced pork belly along with cubed potatoes, jalapeno, onions and tomato and then put that in the tortilla.

You know how much the average mexican cares about your authentic tacos? It starts with fuck and ends with all.
There's literally nothing wrong with white person tacos, however disconnected they are from the real thing.
>>
>>7331831
Bullshit. I've lived in Mexico for well over a decade. Tacos go for between 20 and 40 pesos most everwhere. At todays exchange rate that is a little over a dollar to a little over two dollars.
>>
>>7332054

I don't give a crap about what the average Mexican thinks. Nor do I care about what's authentic.

The point is that the taco mix + ground beef isn't very tasty compared to many other options.

>>There's literally nothing wrong with white person tacos,

Sure there is. they don't taste as good as the alternative. And mind you, I don't mean the alternative has to be authentic. It's just that ground beef is bottom-of-the-barrel.
>>
>>7332054
This, its all good . I once took my inlaws ( we are mexicans in mexico ) to Arizona for shopping. The food that they still talk about that they likes were fucking Jack in the Box tacos of all things.. These are poeple that eat birria, cabesza, barbacoa, camaron, pescado, asada ect. daily at home.
>>
The equivalent to ground beef in Mexico is picadillo and it's sort of like hash (beef potato carrots peppers etc etc )
. It is sometimes used in tacos but mostly In things like sopes and gorditas
>>
>>7332065
Jack in the box tacos are more authentic than taco bell tacos . Other than the Fillings of course .
>>
Make sure everything fresh, fuck you if you cook with old ingredients

Shell: Blue Corn tortilla

Meat: marinate 7 pounds of bone-in goats meat and roast it(use a wood burning stove for best quality)
Marinade: cup of white vinegar(distilled), cup of extra virgin olive oil, 4-6 cloves of garlic(crushed), a couple bay leaves(its fine if these aren't fresh), half a teaspoon of crushed chilli flakes, tablespoon of salt(grind yourself), a couple teaspoons of black pepper(grind yourself), a tablespoon of cumin, 2 lemons worth of zest, a couple teaspoons of ancho powder, a tablespoon of brown sugar, and 4 crushed tomatoes

Shaved onion(diced if you want)

Fried green bell pepper(diced)

Ghost Pepper Salsa

Queso Fresco(crumbled)

Guacamole:
Take a couple ripe avocados, 2 tablespoon of lime juice, 4 tablespoon of cilantro(chopped), half a tablespoon of coriander, a tablespoon of jalapenos(finely minced)

That is all

So ground meat. Beef or pork doesn't matter.

>The closest I might get would be to fry up some chorizo

So the closest you would get to sausage is, sausage? Nice one.

>cubed potatoes, jalapeno, onions and tomato and then put that in the tortilla.

So a taco can only have certain toppings to be a taco now? Fuck outta here. Surprised you didn't say (corn only)tortilla. God forbid a person's personal taste matter in a fucking taco.

>So ground meat
No. Ground meat plus other things. Get the difference through your caveman-thick skull. I don't care what you put in your taco but to assert that "sausage" and "ground meat" are the same thing is just plain retarded. That's just as silly as saying that a "brick house" is the same thing as a pile of dirt and rocks. One is made from the other with additional work and additional ingredients.

>>So the closest you would get to sausage is, sausage?
You misunderstand. The chorizo is just for flavoring; it's a minor part of the ingredients list. And it was deliberately selected as an example because it INCLUDES some sausage, but isn't just dumping ground meat into an old-el-paso brand crunchy shell.

>So a taco can only have certain toppings to be a taco now?
I never said that. I just posted what I like to use. You can use whatever you want to. I had two really simple points:

1) Sausage and ground meat are not the same thing
2) I'm surprised that your preference is such a boring and bland one. There are so many better things to use than ground beef and a taco packet, so why limit yourself?
>>
>>7333192
Taco is only corn tortilla idiot

Hard shells are a meme, they fall apart easily and don't hold much filling.

Soft shell for life, better texture and you can load the taco full of all kinds of meat and veggie goodness.

You put it in the taco for protien (the main meat) which is Spanish sausage. Casing be damned according to you. Sausage is a taco filling. Good to know. Next.

>1) and )2

Sausage is a ground meat. You can change the flavor and quality of beef vs pork the same way. Cooking and seasoning to make it taste great. What are you not understanding on a cooking board? Ground beef has to be either "taco seasoning packet" or just "browned unseasonably meat"? The best food is made with the worst ingredients, cooked and seasoned to perfection. Ground beef cannot fit that category?

Fuck of flank steak Asada hypocrite rerard. Switching flat steak with Carne Asada doesn't change shit.

>>

I make handmade corn and wheat flour tortillas every weekend. You buy white corn reddy made tortillas from the supermarket. Door is to the top right, marked with an x.
>>
>>7333456
Spend any time in Mexicoa and you will find that there is place for both in the taco world. Depends on the filling. It is rare to find a corn tortilla at a carne asada place. That said corn is used the majority of the time for tacos of most sorts.
>>
Flour tortilla are good but the flavor is too sweet for the liking of most, not to mention the texture doesn't pay itself to make tostadas and it's extremely shitty with the juices of the meat/guisado if tacos de guisado are of your liking.

Corn tortillas are supreme because of their versatility.
>>
>>7333838
>It is rare to find a corn tortilla at a carne asada place.

No its not. The only thing that correlates with your sentence is that FLOUR tortillas are used often when eating carne asada tacos moreso than any other taco. Outside of Northern Mexico, corn tortilla is the norm when eating carne asada.

Any advice on making tortillas?

I live in Japan so tacos are expensive - a small sour cream costs $5, a bag of cheese costs $6 and 10 tortillas cost $8. Salsa is basically impossible to find unless I travel an hour to the nearest CostCo. When Taco Bell opened here, I waited in line for three hours just to pay $10 for something that would have been $2 in America.
