>Marler orders his burgers well-done
>Having spent over 20 years working on food-poisoning lawsuits, Bill Marler simply doesn't eat certain foods anymore.
>Having wonmore than $600 million for clients in foodborne-illness cases, Marler says his experiences convinced him these foods aren't worth the risks.
>Marler says. “If it’s not cooked thoroughly to 160°F throughout, it can cause poisoning byE. coliand salmonellaand other bacterial illnesses.
>If a restaurant does this (Marler asks), he orders his steak well-done. If the restaurant doesn’t, he’ll opt for medium-well.

>>
>some random, better call saul, personal injury lawyer doesn't eat the foods that he makes money by claiming make his clients sick

Okay.
>>
>>7315891
I can see thoroughly cooking ground beef, since it's several different cows mushed up together. Also I just don't like the taste of undercooked ground beef.

but steak? either the whole steak will make you sick or none of it will, and that is a risk I'm going to take as an American (God bless)

I mean, yes, some people get sick. I've been eating blue rare my entire life and I'm fine. I have a strong gut.
>>
>>7315907
I just quit typing a much more verbose version of what you said perfectly.

>I don't eat this because it should be illegal and people who order it cooked that way and consent to eat it are entitled to money!
>>
>have all the money in the world for good cuts of meat
>just burn it up by making it taste like the worst quality you can buy
>>
>>7315926
>im a liberal and anything that could pose any risk to anyone should be illegal. The government always knows best. Its a travesty that stuff like beer, cars, and properly cooked meat are legal
>>
>>7315940
Liberal here. You know one thing the government got wrong? This oregon bullshit. They should have rolled in there with tanks, white phosphorus, and goddamm flame throwers.
>>
>>7315891
sounds like a pussy with a weak immune system
>>
>>7315952
No, they could have damaged the nature preserve. Should have sent in special forces for a precision strike.
>>
>>7315952
i really couldn't care less about that whole situation. Its pretty silly that it ever got media coverage
>>
The French have a saying:

He who truly loves food will get sick once or twice per year
>>
>>7315952
I can tell you're a liberal - you trust the government more than the people.

>The news says those guys are bad
>The government says those guys are bad
>I can't think for myself so they must be bad
>>
>>7316035
>that guy who unironically defends Tim McVeigh
>>
>>7315891
who's bill marler?
>>
>>7316018
that's a stupid saying, we should be striving to provide clean food, not just accepting illness
>>
>>7315955
I don't know if you can even read. It sounds like you don't know enough words to understand things properly.

There was no mention of the man himself ever getting sick. He's just seen enough people who have gotten sick to not want to take the risk.
>>
why would you consider the guy whose entire job is arguing that rare meat makes you sick "the expert on food poisoning?" ask a fucking doctor or a scientist you dipshits. you literally could not have found anyone more biased on this topic
>>
>>7316035
Those men have made clear, premeditated public statements about what they're doing and why. They are not for the people. They are for welfare-tier white trash ranchers who can only turn a profit because they use public land for free or nearly free. The people and their duly elected government have, rightly, decided that this land should be used for other purposes that benefit a larger swath of the population, and these guys are just putting on the libertarian flag in hopes of snaring fools into saving their pet welfare program.

You know what they're protesting in Oregon? The court date of someone accused of failing to contain his fire and igniting a substantial parcel of public land set aside for recreational and conservation management purposes.
>>
ITT: buttblasted shitty cooks who can't properly make a well done steak
>>
>>7316357
>The court date of someone accused of failing to contain his fire and igniting a substantial parcel of public land set aside for recreational and conservation management purposes.

to clarify, that man had already gone to trial, been sentenced, served his time in jail, and was released. the federal courts want him retried again years later because they feel the first sentence wasn't severe enough.
>>
ITT savages defending their savagery against all reason
>>
>>7316893
no, he was sentenced to and served 1 year when the mandatory minimum sentence is 5 years. no one is being "retried." he is going back to jail because the judge's sentence was illegal.
>>
Marler can order his burger however he likes but he's still committing a fallacy.
This is like a doctor specialising in lung disease telling you to never breathe near people because a lot of them have tuberculosis.
No, asshole. Very few of them do, but they all come to you.
>>
>>7315926
U never understood retarded American law. People suing restaurants because they got sick, suing other people because they saved their lives with CPR, but broke a rib or something, paying alimony to divorced women (not child support) etc.
>>
>>7316914
I never understood* fuck. Anyway, it's like people want to leech money off of someone on every way possible.

Lads, I have a stomach disorder that causes me to get sick really easily from eating things like tomatoes, garlic or onions

When you get food poisoning at a restaurant what do they do to rectify it? I can get myself sick, it takes about two hours. Can I get free food this way? Or would I always have to fight legal cases
>>
>>7316930

>give yourself food poisoning
>to get free food

It's one thing to break a few bones getting hit by a car to get a few hundred grand, but getting food poisoning for more food doesn't make any sense.

Whatever your problem is, it isn't food poisoning.

>>
>>7315891
why do i care how a lawyer has his steak?
>>
>>7316950

I care because people like him have lots of money for doing nothing productive and drive up the prices of nice restaurants by not having any taste.
>>
>>7315912

it's not because you have a strong gut you ignorant lemon
>>
>>7315891
>If a restaurant does this (Marler asks), he orders his steak well-done. If the restaurant doesn’t, he’ll opt for medium-well.

Does what?
>>
>>7316930

if you can make it seem like their fault, maybe, but you probably aren't smart enough to do that
>>
Med-rare is the only way steak should be cooked. Good enough for me, and chef Ramsey as well.
>>
>>7317067

>Good enough for me, and chef Ramsey as well.

>>
>>7317081
Why do you have to be so utterly rude anon? Would you go around and shout at people irl to kill themselves if they say they like something you don't?
>>
>>7315891
Lol. If you say so, kid.
>>
>>7316035
>you trust the government more than the people.
You're right, when I go to the United States Post Office to mail an envelope, there are certain assumptions involved on my part, and there is a trust factor.

If I walked into what used to be the United States Post Office to mail a letter and saw it had been taken over by toothless hicks screaming biblical verses and raving about the New World Order, I no longer trust that the occupants of the building are going to take my letter to its destination.

Literally nothing you can say will convince me that these idiots are anything but dangerous and delusional people who deserve to be exterminated by the ATF, like your other heroes, Koresh and Randy Weaver.
>>
If you get your steak done more than medium rare you don't like steak and you should stop trying to eat it.
>>
>>7316906

>>

>implying that federal building wasn't a complete eyesore
>>
>>7315891

I'm the same way as him, I just have a fear of "uncooked" food, usually anything that has a lot of internal juices just sets off a part of my brain that just wants to spit it back out.
>>
>>7315891
>bacteria that could cause E. coli or salmonella

Who the fuck wrote this shit?
>>
>>7315891
Honestly, this is the reason I just can't force myself to try not-well-done meat.
I've been taught from childhood that if it's pink, it's undercooked. The thought of trying one of those medium-rares gives me the exact same reluctance one would have when suggested to eat insect, natto or snails. I'm aware that a lot of people around the world eat it. But fuck, it goes against everything I know.
>>
I haven't eaten a steak cooked past medium rare in about 20 years and I've never gotten sick.

Beef is sterile on the inside, its only the outside of the steak that grows bacteria, a quick sear will kill anything bad on the steak.
>>
>>7315891
>guy's career acts as huge selection bias exposing him to everyone who ever got sick at a restaurant
>is excessively fearful of food poisoning as result

Classic

I wonder if he would still have chosen to be a lawyer had he known it would ruin his ability to enjoy steak
>>
>>7317213
how did you come to find yourself on a cooking board with that kind of attitude towards food? i'm not trying to be mean, it's an honest question.
