They have very poor lactase persistence
they can actually eat cheese more than most dairy as it's lower in lactase. But because they can't drink milk they never made cheese, so it's not a big part of their cuisine.

I eat cheese and drink alcohol all the time. However, many asians get asian flush from drinking because they don't produce enough alcohol dehydrogenase. Most asians are lactose intolerant but cheese has very little lactose so they can eat it without any problem.
