Holy chit

The Louisville, Kentucky-based fast-food chain is rolling out its newest menu item -- "Nashville Hot Chicken" -- to all 4,300 of its U.S. stores on Monday.
"We think it will be the biggest spicy chicken innovation to happen since Buffalo wings in the 1980's," Kevin Hochman, the chain's U.S. chief marketing officer said at a media event Thursday in New York.
"Right now, it's hard to to find Nashville Hot Chicken unless you live in Nashville. So we're bringing it to you," he said.
The fried chicken is a combination of spicy, smoky and crispy and pays homage to a popular local specialty of Nashville.
KFC's Nashville Hot Chicken is also only the fourth chicken flavor added to the menu in the chain's 86-year history.
Bob Das, KFC's corporate chef for 16 years, said his team has worked since last March to perfect the flavor. "We made 50 to 70 versions of it before we got it just right."
>>
>>7279571
It's Nashville-style hot chicken. Fried chicken tossed in hot sauce and served with pickles and thick white bread to cool it down
>>
>>7279571
Reverse image search.

Real simple shit.
>>
>>7279589
but will it actually be hot, or will it be like popeyes where their "spicy" is literally barely any different from normal
>>
>>7279623
should be hotter then that
>>
>>7279492
I live near Nashville, and the hot chicken here is great, but inconsistent. I imagine this will be a better product. I can't believe I'm calling KFC consistent, but I am.
>>
>>7279492
well considering there hot wings give me the ring-o-sting im gonna pass..
>>
>>7279623
The KFC near me had them today. Literally just got done trying them
It's barely hot at all. Not bad, just zero heat.
Would have liked some more pickles, then I could have made a pretty decent sandwich with them.
>>
>>7279664

>>
>>7279677
True, but we've all had bad experiences from time to time.
>>
>>7279676
would you suggest them? Are they pricier then normal chicken?
>>
>>7279676
Are they worth the money?
>>
>>7279716
>>7279722
I did like the flavor, it had a smokeyness that is like what you'd expect from something spicy, but disappointingly no burn. So you might want to add some hot sauce of your own.
I'd say they're worth it to try. I didn't pay too much attention, but they don't seem to be any pricier than the normal chicken.
I'll probably go again in a week or so and make a sandwich on like a french roll or something. They had the right flavor for something like that.
>>
>>7279731
I might actually hit up KFC for the first time in years to try it out. I've been craving fried chicken lately
>>
>>7279567
Do American commercials really give launch dates for seasonal fast food items?
>>
>>7279754
Sometimes you do want to generate hype for a new product, especially one like this which KFC has never carried before and so carries no name recognition on its own.
>>
>>7279754
That's the point of advertising. No one will buy your product if they don't know about it.
>>
>>7279623
>popeyes spicy chicken isn't spicy
>>7279677
>fast food is consistent at all locations

Yes and no. In my area, there are a fucking bunch of Popeyes locations. Just how strong the spicy chicken is depends on which of them you go to, oddly enough.
The "ghost chili" ones, though, were total bullshit. No heat at all.

After avoiding KFC for many years I decided to try it this shit. Worst fried chicken I've had in a long damn time. There was a small amount of sauce on top of each piece when it should have been coated in sauce. The chicken itself was dry as fuck and not fresh. No pickles. Biscuit was hard, crumbly and dry. The cole slaw lacked dressing and wasn't creamy.

From what little Nashville hot sauce I could taste I can tell it would be good if it was made properly and with fresh chicken. But god damn KFC, you fucking suck. They also forgot to give me a straw and napkins. I wish i hadn't driven away or i would have asked for my money back. Fuck you, KFC. Never again

I live in nashville, just a few blocks from pepperfire and prince's is less than a mile away. I don't see any way how this chicken is gonna be like actual "nashville hot chicken". To be honest, if you get hot, or any heat level about hot it's gonna fuck your stomach up and tear your ass apart for the next 48 hours. I love it but hate myself every time I eat it. It's big in Nashville cos it's been around so long, but I don't see it catching on well nationwide. there's not way the heat is gonna be the same level or have the same flavor. I'll see how KFC does though.
>>

Niggers ruin fast food. It's what they do. Mexicans make the best fast food.

I worked at a great KFC about 10 years ago, really clean and a freat staff. It closed suddenly when the owner and manager stole 10k each and fled to Mexico.

Anybody remember KFC Wingworks? That was my job when i worked there. Waffle fries, apple pie minis, 7 different wing sauces. They had something called the Smatter Platter.
>>
>>7279910
I think there needs to be official legislation in place to define the difference between spicy and "spiced"
popeyes has spiced chicken, as in there are pepper flavors
spicy should actually make your mouth hot, with continued heat left over afterwards
>>
>>7280361
I agree. And, unrelated to this specific item, I also think that if somebody advertises one of their items by showing an individual spewing out literal flames, the item in question should at least offer a mildly uncomfortable heat.
>>

so disappointing when you go to try something new and they clearly made it super shitty, half the thing is clearly just dry chicken with no sauce
>>
>>7279780

Advertising is what you do when your product is shit or entirely unnecessary
>>
>>7281437
All products good and bad have to advertise. "If you build it they will come" is demonstrably false
>>
Just got back from trying them

They were actually satisfyingly hot, like much hotter than anything Popeye's has put out. The chicken was good and fresh, naturally since they had just opened

The sauce has an oily, chemical taste to it though, and they used the same nasty fast food pickles you'd pick off a Big Mac.

5/10

>>7280520
They're just regular pieces of chicken, or you can get tendies drenched in the spicy oil shit instead
>>
just had some, disappointing

just a slight touch of heat, certainly not "hot", and no other flavor to speak of.
these will not last as an item

bland and boring, the pickle was the most flavorful part
>>
>>7279919
i have access to both popeyes and chick-fil-an and therefore have 0 reason to ever visit a KFC. even if the food was free I would have to weigh my options before eating that swill.

Had them today. I've legitimately been tweeting at them for months about making a spicy recipe chicken.

thankfully they delivered and these are pretty damn good.

as other anons said, they aren't real spicy, but they have a lingering heat which is nice. I think they just drizzle some of this spicy oil stuff on their regular recipe stuff but I could be wrong.

it's super tasty though, a big improvement on their part. I won't be getting their standard recipe any time soon.

the main thing is that they're given their own menu of meals--something I don't see lasting super long. They give you two options, bone in or tenders. The cheapest tender meal was 5.49, three tenders, cole slaw and a biscuit, maybe a drink too.

which doesn't make much sense since their five buck fill up box comes with amedium mashed taters, biscuit, cookie, three tenders and a drink--so you get a larger side, a cookie and a drink for 50 cents less.

I asked them if I could just get a fill up box with the nashville heat, and because it was the first day of serving them they had to ask the big boss. He said they won't do it regularly but because it's my first time they'll do it.

So yeah the pricing doesn't make a ton of sense but they are very good.

A solid 8/10, if their traditional tenders are a 5-6/10

No, not at all. That would just be Buffalo chicken. Google for recipes. The best ones are the Hattie's original and the Brooklyn one in the NYT. The Brooklyn-style is much easier to make.

It's really good shit but super fucking hot. I make it myself and halve the amount of cayenne while replacing the ghost peppers with whatever mild to medium smoked peppers I can find in the market that day. Smoked paprika is the key ingredient. However you modify it to suit your tastes don't mess with that.

I'll never try the KFC one, though.

I tried these today. Got the tenders because the bone-in stuff at my KFC has always been awful.

Surprisingly it wasn't bad. Maybe they were just on-point today but whatever the hot-seasoning stuff is was evenly coated. It's absolutely dripping in oil though, something about the recipe is greasy as fuck.

There are pickles tossed absent-mindedly into the container and I suppose you can eat them.

It's about as spicy as some basic louisiana hot sauce. Probably not enough for most people who really like heat, but you know fast food places always downplay the spice for the average palate. I thought it was enough.

Final Score: 7/10 meme product with a possibility of being a legit flavor, like how you can order a bucket of extra crispy just order a bucket of hot chicken. That could work. Too fucking oily or whatever that is covering it. It's not grease it's like literally oil or vinegar or something. Pickles a shit. Still going to Popeye's or Churches if I want fried chicken.
