Donut thread.
You like donuts don't you? What is your favorite?
>>
There's a spot in anaheim that sells blueberry donuts. usual wait is like 40 min. I think the best donut there is an oreo donut though
>>
There's also a place called Afters. ice cream sandwhich where the buns are warm donuts. it's amazing the first time and whatever subsequent times.
>>
Cinnamon roll. Or maple log.

I haven't had a doughnut in probably 6 or 7 years.
>>

Maple bar or fruit (usually apple) fritter
>>
I always liked crawlers and apple cider donuts

Never really had a donut that's blown me away though. Then again I've only had Krispy Kreme, Dunkin, Entemann's, and some other store brands

Cinnamon sugar donuts fresh out of the oil, so hot that you have to wait a moment for them to cool before you can eat them.

Any other kind of donut isn't worth eating.

I had a bad experience with this but even if I didn't, I would still hate warm donuts.

Not trying to be hipster at all, but donuts from chains are fucking gross. Krispy Kreme, Dunkin' Donuts, whatever, they're all depressingly bad. Like stale candy. Or worse. They have no texture. A good donut should have a chewiness and "bite" to it, but not be a stale shell full of either emptiness or dense flavorlessness.

Fortunately most cities have at least one really good traditional donut shop. The difference is night and day.

>>7266498
They're not my favorite, but I like them. I prefer the ones filled with fruit preserves rather than jelly though.

My favorites are the simple ones. Plain donuts, French crullers, anything without a lot of doo-dads.

>>
>>7268085
People are often able to enjoy both. Doughnuts are clearly less healthy than fruits and vegetables and whole grains, but people consider the taste a worthy trade-off because it contains the fats and sugars the body naturally craves.

What's your preferred form of sweets/desserts, if you indulge?
>>
I can't think of any place to actually get donuts around here, besides Krispy Kreme.
There's nothing wrong with Krispy Kreme, but they don't offer the variety that I like.

I miss Shipley's Donuts, but they don't come this far east. Texas truly is the best /ck/ state.

I made baked donuts one time. Was a bit skeptical but all in all they turned out way better than I thought.

Not as good as the fried ones of course but definitely good in their own right. If I ever make them again I'd make them smaller dough balls though, they would be easier to eat that way.

Shipley, (anglo saxon norther dialect scip (sheep) and leah (a area of flat land, or meadow). In england its not uncommon for families that have lived in the area for hundreds of years to take on the place as a surname. Take the surname Wakefield, another Yorkshire town and the area it is most popular, Wakefield.

Hey dumbass, do you realize most cultures haven't traditionally had surnames, but usually had patronyms or something else? So you move somewhere or a law is passed which requires a surname. A lot of people pick the name of the town they came from.

My own surname, Rodriguez, is a patronym. It means "Son of Roderic." This shit is everywhere. Ever wonder why Jews all seem to have German, Czech, and Polish names? They assumed them from patronyms, the places they grew up or associated with, or just borrowed surnames from the places they came from.

Depends, you could eat nothing but donuts at or below your BMR and not necessarily gain fat. Would your blood pressure quickly rise among other health issues? Yes.

I actually do something where I'm in ketosis for 6 days a week and cycle carbs like donuts for one night. I never see an ounce of it besides water weight - you can feel yourself radiating the heat from not storing the carbs.

If you do that for fat loss, stop it after a few months though- it's not a lifestyle

Not a big fan of donuts that are packed with ridiculous toppings a la Voodoo. Our town went from having zero donut shops to fucking three within a month, and all of them modeled themselves after Voodoo and serve flavor-of-the-month candy/cereal toppings... or the abomination in pic related on top of garbage-tier dough.

Is it so much to ask to get a shop with a simpler menu that serves a great-tasting cake/old fashioneds or boston cremes?

Who are these 'people' that buy them regularly and keep doughnut shops in business?

I like a wide variety I guess: Old-Fashioned & Buttermilk Bars with Chocolate, Maple or straight-up Glazed, Cinnamon Bars or Rolls (Regular or "Crumbed" for either), Blueberry Fritters...

But my favorite is probably the Boston Creme my local shop makes, Their Jelly donuts being a close second (Pic Unrelated).

>>7273781

I guess I'm lucky then, because the only time my place went "Flavor-of-the-Month" was when they made Maple/Bacon bars a few years ago... Though, the only real specialty they've got that could be considered a "Meme Donut" is their Chocolate Chip bar.

________________________________
True Story: My aunt used to work at a donut shop in Los Angeles. Since she was a immigrant, she still speaks broken English. The manager never gave her a key to anything but went out for lunch. Anyway, a criminal breaks into the store and demands that she gives up all of the cash and unlock all of the registers. She can't understand his American accent but she says that she doesn't have any cash in the store because she is just watching this place for the manager until he returns, the criminal doesn't like this and he starts beating her with a baseball bat in frustration. Eventually he uses a crow-bar on one of the locked registers , it turns up empty. Defeated, he leaves with only donuts and her wallet of non-citizenship papers. It's only later that she finds out that all of the locked registers didn't have cash in them. If he only opened the unlocked one, he would have won $30 in change to show for his violence. Of course, she quit that job and never looked back.

To this day, she is still living in a alley behind a alley in Inglewood because she is too traumatized to look for any more work. :(
