i use to date a Chinese girl and her mother made the best Steamed Buns. I would like to make them too but dont have a steam-plate or wok as all the recipes call for the use of these online. I really dont want to go out and buy one. Is there any substitute?

I've had success with a pot / cooling rack / upturned pot configuration. All you really need to do is produce a lot of steam and concentrate it.
