OP, red pepper can be fully digestible, black pepper not so much.
Sooooo...this means it isnt breaking down in the gut the further it goes down in your tract...and could potentially be irritating to lower gut in particular. Do you have good gut health? Or do you abuse it often? I would consider that to be the only consideration to moderate your amounts, or possibly grind it finer rather than coarser. Other than that, it has a few trace minerals that are quite healthy, and some minuscule amount of a toxin (safrole) that every scientist seems to think isn't that much of an issue. It could even be addictive, if you like the substance-P action and subsequent endorphin like fun of a little bite and burn to your food.
