I am looking forward to eating tamales for the rest of the week. It's just my immediate family, but my mom brother and I cranked out ~100 red pork/green chicken/spicy cheese/sweet corn ones. Took all morning, but it was fun.
We make everything, except for the masa. We just buy the preparada and add stock. How deep do you guys go?

21 pounds of cheese
16 pounds of beef
14 pounds of manteca
7 huge packages of hojas
27 pounds of masa*
*masa preparada with salt, manteca, and beef broth added to adjust for desired flavor
Hours of preparing meat, many more hours of fixing up the beef tamales, add a few more hours of cheese tamales and we have 15ish dozens to last us a few days yeah its that time of year. Tamales set to cool overnight and put on the comal for the taste I expect

Knowing that with my parents in town, my brothers and their families would be coming, my friend's mom gave me a bunch of tamales and refused to let me pay for them. I argued with her until she let me pay her $20.
