Does anyone brew here?
I'm thinking about getting some supplies and whipping up some hard apple cider. It's supposed to be an easy beginner thing.
>decent apple cider
>add some honey
>pitch yeast of choice
>proper air-lock
>basic brewing sanitization
>wait
Yeah, it's easy.

Yep I've already read guides. Gonna do it soon. Was just wondering about general experiences.

I've brewed my own beers and mead.
Ask away.

how hard is it to make something that tastes good? is it affordable?

Brewer here.
It's simple.
Haven't made cider, but there's nothing to it, really.
Beer brewing is a little more complex, but there's all kinds of awesome computer programs that make it easy.
Good luck.

Aside from sanitation, which is easy, temperature control is probably the second most important thing to pay attention to.
Also be gentle when you rack, and don't pour your leftover yeast cake into your glass.
I personally like a dry champagne yeast for cider, because of the bubbles.
What's the most cost effective thing to brew that taste halfway decent?
