my store (food lion) sells store brand srimi that says there is crab in it, when it 2$ a 8 oz pack I like to take the slab out whole, nuke it just to warm and make a sandwiche with tarter sauce or mayo and a lot of pepper. Not at all. I actually really like surimi, but you should never think of it as crab, or an approximation of crab. Good surimi is good in its own right.
