barbecue sauce
Finna make a big batch of BBQ sauce for my family as a gift.
My recipe
>Ketchup (don't judge. You typically add all of the ingredients of ketchup to make bbq sauce anyway. I buy organic ketchup.)
>tomato paste, thickener
>brown sugar
>apple cider vinegar
>garlic powder
>cayenne
>bitters
>worcestershire sauce or steak sauce
>liquid smoke, dash
>optional: bourbon, balsamic vinegar, soy sauce, hoisin sauce
>optional: raisin paste or date/fig paste, for thickener and sweetness. I've used raisin paste in the past, but dried dark fruit pulverized in the food processor makes a nice addition to dark sauces)
I leave out salt and pepper since I use this sauce for lots of recipes.

6 tbsp Dijon mustard
