Pizza, italian food, bagels? NYC's own food is average but there are a lot of good restaurants and diversity.
Cities like LA have great mexican, New Orleans/Deep South actually have their own delicious cuisine. NYC is a mix

You should try real dim sum, not your fake "chicka roll" dim sum you have in the land of bad wine. Golden Unicorn is arguably not "cool" to visit if you're from here, but it's still an icon. A lot of edgelords will try to claim you should spend 16 hours each way riding the Orient Express and waste your entire vacation going to Flushing, but honestly Manhattan Chinatown is perfectly good, if not as overwhelming as the outer borough version. I don't suggest visiting the outer boroughs unless you have a lot of extra time to waste or just absolutely have to have the extra stamps on your passport. There's too much to eat, see, and do in the city, and saving $3 on the price of drinks pales in comparison to what you spent for your plane ticket. Consider the value of your time.
Also try Flinders Lane, I'm pretty sure it's what your version of hipsters eat.
Also ignore anyone telling you to eat at "halal guys", it's low quality food for busy workers who want a quick weekday meal, that some dumb tourists collectively decided is the best thing ever, and now it's a meme to stand in line for something that no one in his right mind would eat other than under duress. It's like if someone said you should eat instant ramen, why would you do that.
