I've done it twice, and would not recommend soup as an appetizer

I took six 8+hour plane rides this summer, after the first one i literally just starved myself. Or at least on the ones leaving America. Planes dicking around europe had free wine and solid sandwiches

shiggy amerilard Do you get up in the middle of the night for a snack, as to avoid starvation?

I thought all airlines quit serving meals until I took a flight with Caribbean airlines to Trinidad. It was breakfast so it was scrambled eggs with a strip of bacon on top, apples and cinnamon oatmeal, a good bagel with cream cheese and some fruit. They even gave me a second meal when I asked. Really good. I guess it's just shitty american airlines like delta, aa, and united that don't serve food anymore.

I started working for American Airlines and stumbled upon this forum where customers go to either humblebrag about their status or whine about airplane food being subpar or not having their linens placed.

I'll dump a few photos.
Pic related was from BDL-ORD on a CRJ-900 (tiny plane).

I fly transatlantic 1-2 times a year.

The food never can taste good because it is physically impossible. At best it is mediocere.

I don't want to pay a huge markup for a meal on a 2-3 hour flight

Eat before you get on the fucking plane, that's really all there is to it.

If your flight is under 5 hours it's probably worth gorging before takeoff and then just eating at landing.

The real fundamental issue even beyond the logistics of airline food serving is that your sense of taste largely goes to shoot at 35k altitude, and smuggling better food on is kind of a waste because it won't taste nearly as good as if you ate it on ground. If you have a long flight and the choice is airline food or starving, sure, maybe bring some shit on, but otherwise you should largely go without.

On that note, get tomato juice. It's one of the only things that tastes better to most people in the air.

Alternatively, get a couple drinks and pass out.

Unless you're a rich, frequent flyer prick whose meal is included with the fare. Most of these guys can drop $5k on a pondwater hop, or get their companies to pay for it. As long as they are made to feel opulent the common sense of it all doesn't matter.

Most domestic flights don't get complimentary meals unless the flight is at least business, so you either have to be a bigshot for your company or have the luck to get upgraded. Consultants largely don't fly business every week, even if they are frequent fliers.

I work for the airline and I assign the meals. Economy class doesn't get a complimentary domestic meal unless it's a trans flight. The meals I'm posting are strictly from business and first class cabins. So yes, they're loaded and some also fly every other day if not every week.

Again for >>7157024, this is what I mean:
>>" Another great flight. Fantastic purser, with attentive service throughout flight. Open bar PDB; I chose champagne. Warmed nuts with champagne and sparkling water. For starters, I chose the spicy crab with sushi rice, avocado, and wasabi aioli. Absolutely delicious and beautifully presented, although I wish it had a *bit* more kick. Spring mix with watermelon radish, beet spaghetti, and vegetable ribbons, with creamy wasabi dressing was delicious, and among the better presented salads that I've seen on AA. For my entree, I chose the steamed sea bass with soy glaze and ginger ciltantro pesto rice - again, absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked, and beautifully presented. In fact, both the starter and entree looked virtually identical to what was presented at the "preview" of upgraded meals earlier this year. Wrapped up with the cheese plate, which included membrillo - a nice surprise."

I'm just too lazy to keep reposting pictures of their drinks with their mixed nuts and desserts desu pham.

that taste thing is bull shit

It's because no one wants to pay for the luxury of having a full galley on an airliner, and all their food has to be made to not offend most people while sticking to strict regulations of, for example: however many olives per salad. If you're lucky, they'll have a few options, so you might even be able to go for some shellfish or something with motherfuckingradicalrebel PEANUTS! Even then, the spiciness will be toned down as well as the seasoning. Ask for some salt packets and load that food up, it will taste much better, but remember that it is still typically reheated via steam, not all that much better than a microwave.

I remember when my dad and I went to go visit my uncle in Washington, the airline gave us this cool red snack box sponsored by Ritz. And under the flap cover, there was a coupon for a free Vanilla coke!

We saved it and when we got back home and had to pick up my mom from work, we went to Jewels to redeem the coupon. It made me a bit sad too hand over a memento from a fun trip, but still.

Just don't be that whackjob who dropped a deuce on a food cart in first class. That dude ended up committing suicide about 10 years later.

I honestly didn't know they served food on US planes for trips shorter than 6 hours. The only time I've been served food was when I went to Europe (8 hours to and 10 hours back). And I think you can get a drink/snack on just about any jetliner.
>>
>>7159312
I should also mention that the tickets for Europe and back included the price of a meal.

The pilots and bombarier probably eat pretty good, but the gunners probably eat the same stuff as the passengers.

They should just have sandwiches and coffe on the reg, you cant fuck it up, it wont be weird at whatever altitude and everyone likes it.
