there is such a thing as improperly fried food. if too much is thrown into the oil, or the oil is hot enough before it goes in the temperature drops and the food starts to soak up oil. frying at the proper temperature makes fried food less greasy.

I love Popeye's regular chicken but their tenders don't do it for me.
- over-marinated so the breast gets super hard and stringy
- cut across the grain so they don't have any chew to them despite being over-marinated
- have all those constant 'hot' specials, Ghost pepper, stick pepper, tabasco pepper, etc, that are never even as spicy as the regular spicy chicken
- tenders are so much easier to cook yourself properly that I'd rather make those myself and just buy popeye's regular chicken.
Still, they've got good sides and their tendie sauces are usually pretty good, so it's not like they're bad, just not as good as you can do at popeye's.
