I can think of two very important crops first discovered and cultivated on the African continent: coffee and watermelon. It was a long time ago, but they're pretty fucking significant to humanity. Also, fried chicken. West Africans were cooking that before the white slavers came, and it caught on globally after they made it in the southern U.S.
Oh, and on more thing: Beer. It is very possible beer was developed in ancient Egypt/Mesopotamia. This is hard to pin down because it was near the beginning of civilization. And as we all know, wild yeast cultivation from beer brewing led to yeast leavened bread. Not bad, I think.

Traditionally it was served with "fufu", which is pretty much bread with the consistency of mashed potatoes. It's made from pounded cassava root, but cassava is hard to find in modern Africa so most people use cornmeal.
