I kept seeing these pies on here, so I decided to buy some.
What are they usually served it with? Or are they mostly just snacks.

it's a breakfast/lunch/morning-afternoon tea thing in Australia.
If you do one with dinner, you serve it with mashed potatoes and some veges, maybe a sausage or too if you're feeling cheeky.

Sounds good.
Also, is the ketchup just a joke, or is it a common thing to do?

Tomato sauce on your pie is normal.
In South Australia they put their pies in a bowl then cover the whole lot with mushy peas.
Often you can get breakfast pies which have egg, bacon etc on them.
A "cottage" pie (name differs from place to place) whill be just like normal but with a spire of whipped mashed potato baked on top with some melted cheese.

I'm just a dumb American but I think a mix of spinach, peas, and garlic is nice on top of savory pies.

In canada its usually eaten on christmas or thanksgiving, with ketchup or fruit ketchup
