Not exactly, it was peasant/slave food because lobster was considered filthy, kinda like terrorists see pigs as filthy, lobsters are bottom feeders and literally insects of the ocean, people didn't know how to cook them properly and they didn't really care, they just over boiled them in salt water and gave it to slaves because nobody wanted to eat garbage eating insects.
